Surprised noones mentioned Gwyn Thomas' equalizer v Norwich. Hit the stauntion and flew out. Took ages for the ref to give the goal
Thanks for mentioning that. I’d forgotten all about it. Didn’t he score a similar one away at Bradford around that time?
David Currie first v Ipswich - 1st incarnation. For occasion, Big Trev v Man City, Thommo, Isiah Rankin, Winnall, Hourihane, and Patrick Schmidt last season (oh how the Ponty rose as one to that one!!). Honourable mention for Agnew and Banks, and any one of King Ronnie's at that end. Mama scored a couple of belters v Oxford. And Callum Styles is right up there.
Cooper v Ipswich. Watched the ball come over his shoulder and wellies on half volley. Currie v Newcastle. Turns on a sixpence on touch line, leaves a couple of their lads standing, runs infield and curls one into far top corner: sublime. Wayne Biggins on his debut, top corner jobby
Don't get me wrong I rate young Callum, but Tommos goal was the best for me, because I was there to see it and I was directly in line with it as it flew Excocet like off his boot and into the rigging. The noise that the ball made as it zipped down the goal mesh will live with me forever. The power he generated was truly unbelievable.
Darren Barnard in the demolition of Uddersfield has to be worth a shout probably the finest 45 minutes of attacking football i've ever seen at Oakwell
