Is there a language requirement for the Residencia? Many of the EU countries requirement a minimum of B2 of one of the national languages.
I really hope the rumours aren’t true, but if they are it’s proof that democracy works....you sometimes do get what you voted for.
No. They’re only interested in your financial status and private health insurance (if you’re under pension age).
Couple of things on this Interesting to see people dismissing the Sunderland Echo over nothing but a rumour, both have equal merits in that neither has come from an official release from the company. People need to bear in mind new car sales have been in free fall since the new tax brackets on new cars were released. Nissan shut its plant in Barcelona earlier in year, Renault announced a 2billion reduction worldwide and in May were in emergency talks with the French govt because new car sales pre COVID for them were down 25%. Renault and Nissan are intricately linked as are Mitsubishi in a business context. All that aside of course, I hope the news is not true for any reason as it would decimate the area.
Apart from the ones that voted remain, and the ones that were too young to vote. I even have some sympathy for the ones that were gullible enough to believe the lies.
Nissan have been warning of the impact since before the referendum. And when the tories started suggesting no deal was the utopian holy grail, closure was offered as a real possibility. The response from brextremists.... all propaganda, all project fear. And Sunderland voted to leave. Sadly, Brexit won't just negatively impact all those who voted for it, but everyone else too. Project fear will be soon be shown to be the biggest lie in modern UK history. Even bigger than the £350m a week NHS lie.
Imagine for a moment that you are Nissan. Two scenarios may occur: A) a trade deal is agreed and you can continue to operate largely as the status quo; or B) no trade deal is agreed and your exports become uncompetitive, but your competitors become uncompetitive in regards your smaller domestic market In the event of A, you don’t really need to change that much In the event of B, you’ll either up sticks or seek to take advantage of potential for higher domestic sales sufficient to compensate for loss of export sales Is the strategy in B realistic? Remainers always emphasise the downside, but is that how the business themselves should think?
It has never been straightforward. Migrating to the EU is still impacted by individual countries' immigration rules albeit they were subject to FoM rules when it came to EU residents. A lot of cr*p has been posted over the past few years by some people on here with the anti Brexit agenda whilst dismissing and resorting to personal abuse of people who actually live in the EU with permanent residency when they point out the factual inaccuracies and misconceptions . Some gleefully telling me how I would not be able to get my pension transferred post Brexit more recently that out UK bank accounts would be closed... both incorrect. Certain criteria and quite a lot of formal processes were( and still will be) involved and the taxation implications have to be sorted. There is no doubt things will be more complex but not insurmountable. It is not and never has been something to enter into lightly and you need determination and quite a lot of work, and hoops to jump through to follow through with it. Nevertheless people emigrated before we joined the EU and will continue to do so. The Sky will not fall in. Will countries like Italy and Spain block people wanting to take up residency coming from UK, or, at the very least make it much harder? Indications from the Italian Govt at least are that they will not . The ageing and reducing population means that Brits in particular bring money in ,and regenerate decaying properties and bring money into the local economy, The joke amongst locals is that we are all mad as we spend huge sums restoring old ruins that they would not touch with a barge pole as they want 'new and modern'. It is true the cost of restoring an old farmhouse using traditional methods (but with a few tweaks like Earthquake proofing (mandatory) extra insulation, DG, Underfloor heating ( old properties have virtually none so it is freezing and extortionate to heat in winter and baking hot in summer without adding it). makes it far more costly per sq metre than buying in a newer development or a less traditional home. The heart rules the head though if you want to follow the dream of an Italian rural lifestyle. Newer properties are invariably in a suburb or built up area due to strict planning laws in agricultural zones. People come here from all over the World and manage to get permanent residency status, Italy is NOT a tax haven and taxes generally are higher here than UK.
think Nissan are going to answer your question by shutting the factory unless we throw massive subsidies at them.
We'll see. I wouldn't pay them a subsidy to stay though. Sometimes, in a negotiation, people say things that they don't mean.
As I understand it the subsidy has already been offered it’s just the level that may not sufficiently plug the gap.
Part 735 Part 736 Part 737 ad ifinitum and it will get worse as more and more things we just took for granted dont work anymore still Blue Passports and our freedom of movement taken away its what we were promised
My sister moved to Madrid in 1979, I think she applied for residency mid 80s, I don't think it took too long. She applied for Citizenship after the referendum not sure if she's got it yet.
