Finally getting one in Barnsley (again). Plans have been submitted to redevelop the former Black Bull pub site at Stairfoot into a drive thru.
The owners of Little Chef opened BK franchises in their struggling restaurants. Burger King occupied half the unit that later became Frankie & Benny’s. Plans have been submitted to convert that into a Starbucks Drive Thru. The plans for this BK suggest a different franchisee. However, much more likely to be more successful than the last thanks to delivery.
They could always rebuild the old railway bridges to create a 4-way blind spot again. That would add to the excitement.
Can you imagine if it was the old set up, roundabout isn't one of the best but a damn site better than the crossroads.
Not a frequenter of either Mac’s or BK. But offspring prefer BK. Don’t get the clamour for either tbh.
I always find it rather expensive in BK. I'm trying not to eat rubbish too, so this wouldn't help me but surely there is there ought to be a McDonald's or a Burger King in the town centre as well.
I think the council initially ruled out any fast food operators for The Glassworks, in favour of more family friendly casual dining restaurants. However, given the virtual collapse of that sector, I suspect they may reconsider. The restaurant units under the bowling alley are the perfect location for fast food as they’re so close to the interchange. Only two of those are occupied so far. I’m surprised the owners of the Alhambra haven’t considered a fast food court - they’ll be losing two of their anchor tenants very soon and will need the footfall!
Early 70’s I think. Prep work started in the late 60’s with the demolition of the old railway viaduct and closure of the canal. Stairfoot is almost unrecognisable today. There are some good old pictures here: https://stairfootstation.co.uk/gallery
