My Mrs bought one last week, 36 different tunes (no, not one of Del Boy's that plays national anthems), and barring the pizza delivery driver last Friday, everyone who's been to the door since, hasn't used it. We've bought the door bell because we don't hear knocking on the door when we're both working, and yet, nobody seems to use it. Any Postie's or delivery people on here? Why don't you like using door bells? TIA
We had the same issue. Bought a Ring and it lights up when it senses movement. The amount of people i see on it that go to knock, see it out of the corner of their eye then press it is extremely high.
About 1 in 20 people ring our doorbell. Had a DHL delivery today (Northern Monk) and it was left next door - we were both in the house and heard nothing. Fortunately the beer was next door, and it’s home safe now.
Royal Mail have started just leaving ours on the doorstep. Couple of days ago, I'd popped to the shop, came back to find a package on the doorstep (in the rain). My Mrs was at her desk, 10ft from the front door, and didn't hear them knock, or press the doorbell.
Personally, if I'm going to someone's house who has a doorbell, I ring it and then knock. If it isn't working then they'll still hear me.
Also, and if you don't mind me asking, what did you get from Northern Monk? One thing I miss about working in the office, is having a walk down to the Northern Monk taproom on a Friday after work.
Couriers have one hand full with whatever they're carrying, and the other is holding their mobile device. Nine times out of ten, they ignore the knocker and rap on the door with their device. My missus is getting a bit fed up, as she's worried that it will damage the composite surface.
I got some cans of Daily mash, an enter the Haze pack, a glass and a t shirt. been promising the Mrs a visit to the refectory since before lockdown. Used to go with an old mate after meetings in Leeds.
I used to be a delivery driver. We don’t use doorbells because we can’t work out how to operate them.
