It was a bit of a showing up. Even though they clearly had better players, we should have done better than that. I think anything above 26 points at Christmas is a good start. I always look fit 52 points as a marker for stopping up. Seems like Ismael has plans for the squad in the window. We just need the board to back him.
And the last sentence says it all. Let's hope the board respond by backing him otherwise he too may do exactly what Hecky,Stendel and Struber did. Realise they couldn't do the job without the necessary tools and leave.
We're 8 points from the relegation zone and 8 points off the play-offs. I'm feeling more relaxed about this season than any of the Championship seasons in recent memory. A bit more firepower wouldn't go amiss, but even without it I'd still fancy our chances of a comfortable mid-table finish. Back to back wins against Wycombe and Wednesday would be a nice way of calming anyone suffering from football related anxieties, and setting us on course for a very merry Xmas.
That would mean 11 wins needed (or equivalent in draws). Would be nice to get three or four of those this month. I think we’ll need a good week this week if we’re to have a more comfortable end of season.
If we could get a striker who knows how to get in the box for crosses, a left wing back and a more reliable centre half than Anderson. I think we will have a shot at the playoffs.
I don't think there's much to get over. Get the lads in and show them the individual mistakes, tell them to learn from them and make sure they realise that other than those individual mistakes we matched them and can match anyone. We definitely shouldn't be talking about relegation or the defeatist attitude of 'we only need x amount to stay up' as that sets the bar so low and we should and can do better
I think we've got a good group of players and are going in the right direction, if we could add some more quality up front then it would be a cracking squad considering our budget. So to be fair to the board they must be doing something right.
I’ve been watching the reds since the early 60s and I’ve learned over that time that the first 52 points is critical. If you get that in February you’re a candidate for promotion. If you’re not there in April you’re in for a white knuckle ride. Just like last year. I don’t see it as defeatist.
