And cost poor George Russell an amazing victory as Hamilton's replacement and also slow bottas chances of an underserved win too, utter shambles put bottas's tyres on Russell's car trying to change both cars tyres during a safety car when they had absolutely no need to make the stop. They've made themselves look utterly Moronic.
Russell was very unlucky, deserved to win that. Nice to see Perez win one though in possibly his last year in F1.
Any othe driver on that grid is better than Bottas. He's pathetic. Russell's first weekend with a new team and he's outperformed Bottas. I just wish Toto Wolff would give someone else a chance in that other Mercedes because they would likely put up more of a challenge to Hamilton. If he doesn't then 2021 will be another year of Mercedes (Hamilton) domination.
It's shown two things 1. George Russell is light years ahead of the awful bottas 2. Lewis Hamilton has the easiest job in F1 in that car with bottas as his teammate.
Guessing lewis will be campaigning hard to keep Bottas as his team mater for the next couple of seasons
I don,t get how bottas has kept that job for 3 years ,like you say needs someone to push Hamilton and it ain’t bottas.
Russell would give him a fight so I'm guessing youre right Lewis will be on the phone to Toto right now saying he'll sign his new contract now if the slow coach Finn is confirmed as his number 2 driver and Russell is sent back to Williams until Hamilton decides once he's beaten the last of Schmackers records to retire.
Whilst I was super impressed (but not surprised) by Russell today, that was the easiest track on the calendar. He should have been celebrating a maiden victory, not Perez. Huge mistakes by the crew cost him. And Bottas.
Bottas was racing on the same track and Russell out performed him. Bottas has driven that car all season Russell has driven it for 3 days in a competitive environment and maybe a little bit in private testing as I understand he is under contract to Mercedes and on loan to Williams. Russell should be given the chance because Bottas is simply not in the same class and if not in a Mercedes would be at the back of the field.
Mercedes wouldn't want to make such a big call off the back of one race. But I agree for the fan Bottas in the 2nd Merc is a disaster. Not only is he nowhere near good enough to challenge Hamilton he's actually seeming to be getting worse. I think his confidence is likely in bits. Only a minor tweak to the regs next year so expect more of the same.
