We're the St Pauli to their Hamburg, the Forest Green to their Cheltenham Town, the basic human activity to their... Millwall.

    Let's call them enablers then.
By constantly undermining efforts to combat racism, homphobia because, I suspect, they don't like all this wishy washy lefty stuff they give cover to the actual racists/homophobes amongst us.
I don't think there are any racists on this forum but there's damn sure a fair few enablers.

    Great way to put it.

Unfortunately there are some racists though. Thankfully they either don't post very often or they've been banned though.

Just not true though is it?

There are certain aspects of life that have absolutely deteriorated as a result of social media. Mental health being the biggest one. But the benefits of the internet far outweigh the negatives. Imagine if it was Covid-99 or even Covid-09 - the world would be absolutely ******, even moreso than it is at the minute.

You don’t have to be LGB or T to be a victim of homophobia. Just because you don’t walk round like you have a rolled up carpet under each arm.
You should see what I looked like when I was in bands. I don’t think my Mam ever did get her blouse back.

I knew that, but I just thought 19 was some sort of medical thing. Never realised the proper meaning.

I believe the internet and social media has simply shone a great big light on the darker side of human nature. It was always there, but many things, corrupt politicians, police brutality, abuse in care homes, orphanages, illegal corporate activities and many other illegal immoral activities remained hidden from view for many . The ability to expose this is the positive side, but trolling, abuse, fake news, conspiracy theories etc reach a far bigger audience and wider spread in a fraction of the time it would have taken pre internet by leaflets, word of mouth, posters and radio is the negative.
Another positive side is that, whilst powerful people can still use it to their advantage particularly rogue states disseminating misleading propaganda, social media overall, has made it a lot more difficult to hide from the public. and keep the lies going Belarus being one example, where the rest of the World is fully aware of the lengths that Lukashenko (backed by Putin) is prepared to go to to cling to power.

Trump is the perfect example of the good and bad sides of Social media/internet . Fake news and conspiracy theories gained momentum because of social media but at the same time gave counter arguments and evidence Worldwide exposure and debunked the fake news and claims. ( at least to non MAGAs)

I'm not so sure about that. Arguments can only carry on if you choose to let them. If you choose to connect to the internet and go on social media then yes they can be carried on but if you choose not to they can't. I'm assuming this is more aimed at school children because adults who choose to deliberately argue with someone they know personally after work on social media are just tossers but with school kids it works both ways, yes the argument and the bullying can carry on but then the support can as well. In the past if you were bullied on the way home from school you sat in your house thinking everyone hated you until the next day when you went to school sh.iting yourself. Now if that happens you've got your friends messaging you telling you they've got your back.

There are certainly downsides but there are positives too, I don't think it's made the world any worse, it's made it much better for me but I think that we do have to come up with a way of educating those who experience the negative aspects that they have options and that they have support

There are loads of gay professional football players. None of them dare come out. The only one I know whoever came out killed himself. Wearing rainbow laces is the worst form of tokenism. It's making everyone feel like they're doing something and feel good about themselves when the sport is intrinsically and maliciously homophobic from the changing room to the boardroom to the stands. Of all the empty gestures football involves itself in, this is the worst.
