But it doesn't illustrate anything. It glosses over the fact that there are many real issues that affect a substantial amount of people and that putting them in order of validity is never a good idea. Has racism in football been a problem? Yes, of course. And it still is. Has homophobia? Yes, and it still is. Has sexism and misogyny? Yes, and it still is. Gender is going to become a problem. By the sounds of it, so is vaccination status. You may want to spend your whole life acknowledging empty gestures on specific issues. I really don't think that's a good idea. I think tackling the route problem is. And if you don't think this has the potential to cause problems, you're not really thinking about it. You're just scoring points against me and alluding to me not being enlightened and that simply isn't true. You're not having an adult conversation about it.

What if I stand up and turn my back when the players "take the knee"?

It's a free country you can do whatever you like. You also might be challenged if you did that. If I was sat next to you I would challenge you and I find problems with the whole premise, but I don't think it should be disrespected while it is being done. I think it deserves dialogue, but not dismissing.

If you're ready to be challenged for turning your back then crack on, it's entirely up to you. But I really do think you will be.

Great. Now we have to put our tongues in our cheeks as well as kneeling. Slowly Jay's dystopian vision of people kneeling while waving an arm around and patting their heads is coming true. Booooooooo!

But on a serious note, if we're going to start booing players for making harmless gestures in support of something are we going to start booing players who cross their chest before running onto the pitch? Religion has no place in sport! Not on my watch.

I'd say it would be a telling indicator of what type of person you are but nobody's stopping you. Go ahead.

Then I’d question you (if I was in the vicinity), as to what part of a five second gesture made by players as a stand against racial discrimination offends you so much that you’d want to be so disrespectful.

    And childish.

I was just pointing out that somebody had mistakenly taken one of Rosco’s posts at face value...again.

Whereas you just seem to be making a load of assumptions about what I do and don’t think.

I think change comes not immediately, but slowly and with small gestures. If this is what the players think will start that ball rolling who am I to put my foot on the ball.

Millwall v QPR tonight. No taking the knee but players will link arms in solidarity. Just listened to the blowk who's organised this. The clubs sponsor have agreed for this game to drop their logo and it's gonna be replaced by Kick Racism Out logo instead.

An anti discrimination banner to be held up aswell. So realistically anyone who apposes the knee won't or shouldn't have an issue......

I'm sure many other clubs will follow suit.

Oh for the days when all we did was talk about Reds/football on a football forum.

That's never happened on here. I'd suggest trying tykesmad but it's never happened on there either.
