US Election

When you parrot utter garbage, expect to be called out on it.

Especially when it’s so easily debunked by a small amount of critical thinking.

 

Are you familiar with the expression 'the proof of the pudding is in the eating'? I'm not Donald Trump so I don't feel any need to prove anything to anyone.

Why do you feel so threatened by me thinking Trump will win the election? Why does what I think make you so agitated? The outcome of the election will be whatever it happens to be and, by 20th January 2021 at the latest, we will all know what that is. Until then, you may as well sit back, relax and enjoy the show because letting yourself get so wound up about me not holding the same opinion as you won't change anything.

I appreciate that you have an intense disliking of Donald Trump. I'm not particularly a big fan myself, but surely you can agree that there is no greater destruction of democracy than a fraudulent election where the will of the people is subverted by serious foul play. Has that happened in this election? I don't know, maybe, maybe not, but as you have pointed out, the burden of proof rests with Trump and his legal team. If he has the evidence to back up his claims then the Supreme Court will rule in his favour and he will get a second term. If that happens, you may not like the result but you will have to concede that democracy has prevailed.

You may not like or agree with what I say but I'm not sure how you can argue that any inconsequential comment I make on a local football message board about an overseas election is in any way 'dangerous'.

 

If you aren’t a big fan then why the profile picture out of interest?

 

If the SCOTUS makes a decision I will look very closely at the reasoning. If it's anything like Kavanaugh's reasoning on the PA case that was tied before Amy Coney-Barrett was confirmed, serious questions have to be asked about how partisan and biased the Supreme Court has become.

 

I'm sorry, but there's no way to debate with someone that believes what Trump's team are trying to say is in that video.

They're too far gone at that point for reasonable debate.

 

He's absolutely been reasonable.

He's asked for evidence in a polite manner time and again. When this has not been produced and links to various conspiracy theories have been shared instead (and easily debunked) then he has every right to become frustrated by a poster continually sticking his fingers in his ears and ploughing on.

I'm the least political person you are ever likely to come across. I choose not to vote in UK elections. I didn't even vote in the EU referendum so, as you can imagine, I don't have a great deal of interest in what happens in other countries' elections.

In the run up to this year's US Election I thought that Trump had a reasonable chance of winning and as a betting man I was attracted by the odds and stuck a bet on him. Fortunately it was through a betting Exchange and at around 3am the odds had swung showing Trump was around 88% likely to win and I cashed in my bet for a healthy profit. Then oddly at around that same time all the activity went quiet and by 5.30am the situation bizarrely flipped with Biden around 95% likely to win. That is the time that the Trump legal team argues that there were large Biden vote dumps in the key swing states and having watched it all unfold on TV in real time I'd have to say there was something that seemed pretty unusual about what happened that night.

Following the election night, I said I still believed that Trump would win and got berated by all and sundry for it. At that point I decided to stick the Trump profile picture on to pin my colours to the mast until the election result is determined one way or another. As soon as it is I will almost certainly change the picture to something else equally mundane.

That's all well and good, but if you continued to say you think Trump will win every 5 minutes over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again then it would take more than knocking one out to relax.

You: I’ve got a feeling Trump will still win this election

Me: Er… ok, pal.

You: Come back… where are you going?

 

That explains it then. What happened was exactly what most people expected. Nothing dodgy, it was to do with the order in which votes were counted. Some states did mail-in first, some even before election day, some waited until after in person votes were counted.

Trump told his supporters not to vote by mail, so they didn't. I suspect the reason he did that is so that the mirage that happened on election night would happen and he could claim victory as he has done.

 

Perhaps you should consult a doctor then or an anger management specialist.

Or maybe just chill out a bit and stop looking for aggravation where there is none.

As for the every 5 minutes thing.... I haven’t said a word about the US election before this afternoon in over 3 weeks.
