7 minutes left and took off their best 3 players saving them for Saturday essentially giving up tonight. I have just lost 90 minutes of my life I'll never get back watching the worst game I've seen in the championship
We're hardly Wimbledon, Watford, Wednesday & Sheffield United from the 1980's. Our passing which resulted in Vic's goal against Derby and Styles' & Cauley's goals against Forest were a joy to behold.
True, it just wasn’t the first thing I’d expect to be associated with us that’s all. How many times are people complaining on here during games about our passing?
A quick forum search of 'Barnsley' brings up some belters https://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/t...ver-seen/page/2/?tab=comments#comment-9499773 https://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/topic/295541-what-next/?tab=comments#comment-9499765 https://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/t...ay-omdt/page/69/?tab=comments#comment-9499637 https://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/t...ay-omdt/page/55/?tab=comments#comment-9499263 https://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/t...r-window/page/6/?tab=comments#comment-9497673
I think we're a decent passing team. We do it further up the pitch than before, though, after we've pressed the opposition into losing the ball. If there is an issue, it's we're trying to do 'Hollywood' passes on a regular basis, rather than going for the more simple option when it presents itself. However, at least they're attempting the 'Hollywood' pass, rather than aimlessly passing between the defenders, keeping possession for possession's sake and achieving nothing.
To be honest Sheff Wed could field half a team and I’d still be convinced they’d beat us. If we get a good win tomorrow then that bit of confidence in the team will help. If we fail to score tomorrow I have this nagging feeling they’ll manage to beat us on Saturday.
They could field the under-11s and would still win, with a 99th minute deflection off the floodlights
Let’s deal with Wycombe first. If we go into tomorrow’s game lacking respect, they will be the ones turning us over. We can worry about the Fowls afterwards.
Spoken like a man who has seen us lose at Hillsborough too many times. Losing there is almost the law. I wonder what novel, interesting way we can devise to ensure our defeat this season?
Ahem, in defence of blind optimism, I would like to present ‘exhibit A’ to the jury m’lud [court gasps at footage of Simoes scoring the winner at QPR]
I totally agree mate. I'd sooner us try and attempt the killer pass than play it along the back 4 (3) for 75 minutes going nowhere. The last 9 games have been a revelation tbh with some of the best attacking play we've seen for a while at Oakwell (Stendel's L1 team excepted). I've been pleasantly surprised with the impact Valerien has had on our team so far. Long may it continue
Mel Sterland or Simon Stainrod to get the winning goal despite being 15 yards offside from a Carlton Palmer mis-hit cross.
