Well you can go on and explain your debate. I've basically said that penalties are are an extra to a striker's goal tally. If you get to 20 by virtue of taking penalties then it's a matter of who takes em. What's wrong with that?
You said if "Walton came up and took the penalties then you'd think that if he was the top scorer then he was our best striker?" Sorry, but I have no intention of debating with you when such an argument would rarely be heard outside a school playground. Today we have won at our local rivals, which we rarely do, and our top scorer & best striker has scored again. On a personal note, a close family member died at dinner time. I have far more important things to concern me. You can bad mouth me to your heart's content now if you like, I won't reply.
You've still got to score the penalties. If we had anyone else on pens we probably would have a few less points than we do now.
Sorry to hear of your bereavement BigLil. Sincere condolences and our thoughts are with you and your family at this sad time.
Sorry for your loss mate, my thoughts are with you and yours at what is understandably a difficult time for you all.
If we're arguing about penalties vs. goals from open play then I'll happily award Cauley one from open play for his finish against Wycombe. Very unfair that he had to then get up and do it again from the penalty spot!
No offence but you are so absolutely dense it’s hard to have any coherent discussion with you. Forwards take penalties. It’s part of their skill set. If as seems likely Cauley gets 20 goals this season then that’s what matters not how he scores them. That’s what the history books will see your opinion of the ‘worth’ of those goals is absolutely without any sort of merit or meaning. Again if Woodrow scores 20 goals in the league for us this is such a massive achievement that few living reds fans will have ever seen that happen before. That’s the level of the achievement.
So why add all the extras Redfearns record . Hynes Record and even Woodrows record of 42goals trying to make out I was on about 75% of those being penalties. . Not hard to understand you haven’t twigged. I was quoting stats on the op’s post or didn’t you read. Yet again you twisted em. To suit your agenda. You “so over the 42 goals he has scored 75% are penalties?” where did I say that. 5/7 x 100% = 71.4% until yesterday 5/6 = 83% Coherence my arse. End of.
Perhaps not good to speak of coherence and call Ernie Hine someone called Hynes. it’s not hard to twig some idiot slagging our players off on the basis of a few games instead of looking at their whole career. Will vault be absolutely delighted at 7 goals in 14 league starts of course he will. My point though unfortunately you weren’t able to grasp it was that most of the players with decent goals scoring records have been penalty takers. Over time this averages out. So curries average for example of penalties to goals from open play is almost identical to Woodrow. I will leave you to slagging our players off as you’re boring me to death in all fairness.
Facts speak louder than words. Not once have I slagged Woodrow off. Another of your misunderstandings. Bored. That makes 2 of us. At least get your facts right. Not once have you corrected yourself. Take a look in the mirror afore you slag anyone else off by being so wide of the mark.
Only just seen this, I'm really sorry for your loss biglil. I hope you and yours are as ok as it is possible to be.
Maurice was a truly lovely, generous man, old friend. It's really hit us hard. Thank you for your lovely comments.
