Also, the lad from Forest Green that we’re linked with was left out of their squad at the weekend. Their manager said that he wasn’t injured.
Isn't a prolific scorer, but from the bits I have seen of him he is a tall physical striker who has a bit of quality with the ball at his feet. Would compliment Chaplin and Woodrow well I think. Fairly similar to Adeboyejo though.
Did really well at Shrewsbury when on loan from Norwich along with Ben Godfrey (and look where he is now). Old fashioned centre forward with lots of physicality (sometimes too much) who puts himself about to good effect. The weakness here is his goalscoring record, which isn't the greatest. However, I had earmarked him in the summer and was surprised that he moved to MKDons. Right age. Right type of player. Still maybe a bit raw and needs to demonstrate that he is also a natural goalscorer. Maybe, but not to pay out silly money for him.
Very strong rumour that we might go back to Donny with a new offer for Whiteman and there could be interest in 26 year old former Leicester City striker Josh Gordon who is now with Walsall.
Interesting - good to see us linked with another forward option! That goal was shocking defending though, he doesn't get too much credit for that!
Do you mind me asking, are you a scout or something? For years on here whenever potential transfers are discussed, you come on with a load of suggestions and detailed thoughts on players at all levels of the game who I've never heard of. So I figured it's either your job to research or you enjoy watching an awful lot of football! I'm not much of a yardstick mind, I've barely heard of anyone who doesn't play for the Reds these days.
We seem to have a depth of potential goalscorers, but not the right foil to get the best out of them. You draw comparisons to Adeboyejo, and whilst he's becoming more physical, he still isn't the greatest at holding the ball up. His first touch isn't good either. It's things he can certainly work on, but Morris is a few years older and has tons more games under his belt. He's probably more of a finished article than Victor. We are lacking a good hold up player.
I fully agree we need a good hold up player. In an ideal world we need a physical striker with a good goal record but those are few and far between and would be well out of our budget. Based on the clips I have found of this lad his hold up play looks very good and seems to have skill with the ball at his feet (I know clips online always make players look brilliant and can be a tad decieving) but from watching this he attacks the ball well from crosses. And more importantly created some good chances for those around him. For a small fee he is worth a buy I reckon.
I watch an awful lot of football, simple as that. I have always enjoyed the lower three leagues - can't explain why - maybe just that in the 60s you would often get really poor contests as the top flight teams often cancelled each other out, or tried to assassinate each other in the case of Leeds. I genuinely have always found lower leagues more interesting and, anyway, Barnsley has always been my team! I have NO idea about overseas players, as i don't watch them, but Morris I saw in the play-offs when Shrewsbury got there. Certainly throws his weight around and is not phased by any big defender, but his scoring is a bit hit and miss and he might end up as another Michael Smith, although he's not doing badly at Rotherham now. I have never scouted - I have managed some youngsters teams - just enjoy watching and trying to pick the unearthed gems from the lower leagues.
So was Jake Young - 6'2" striker scoring regularly, although not yet established in their first team. Ex-Blunts.
Oh! Joy! My dreams come true!!!! There are those on here who remember my failures, such as 'Don't bother with Danny Graham!!' But I thought I was doing ok with Markus Forss in this close season and he looks to be well on the way to proving himself at the higher level, as well as having a full cap for Finland now.
He was at Rotherham and Shrewsbury in League 1 last year wasn’t he? Don’t remember him pulling any punches...
