It is one of the biggest collapses in the second half of a season I can remember in the second flight. Late 70's I remember Blackpool being top 6 at Christmas & relegated at the end of the season.
When Macca took the Republic of Ireland job iirc. Top 2 in November to relegated on the last game of the season - that's quite a collapse
Did Crystal Palace do something similar one year? Around bottom at Xmas and promoted to PL via play offs?
Actually Mr B - we weren't bottom at Christmas, we'd reached the heady heights of 21st, 1 point off bottom. The bottom of the table episode was following the 1-1 draw with Sheff U at the end of November https://www.11v11.com/league-tables/league-one/25-december-2015/ https://www.11v11.com/league-tables/league-one/30-november-2015/
feels a lot weaker to me. The 3 relegated clubs are absolutely miles ahead of the rest even Brentford are pretty far off that level. Below that there is little or no quality.
I don't think the standard was great last year tbf, there's not much difference between last and this. We managed 49 points last season, which bearing in mind how bad we were at times and how many goals/games we just gave away, is still a decent points tally.
The 3 that came down are miles ahead. Swansea look strong. Blackburn look handy for a play off place, there are a few others, but no strong candidates. There is a chance for us. I'm still happy with mid table this season TBH. Live the dream though.
There’s only 10 points between the top 10. Very competitive division. I don’t really see any sides running away with automatic. But yes, the relegated three are the current top three. Just. But this is the Championship. You can’t predict things with any confidence, not even on the final day. Nice to be mid table so far though.
