Just found out today that it's near Canterbury. Wondered why I'd never been there, driven past it, or even seen any signposts for it. Because it's at the other end of the country.

Worth a visit too, even at this time of year.

It looks spectacular I agree. Just a pity it's nowhere near Yorkshire, despite what its name would suggest!

Stunning place. You can even stay there. I was confused at first when Leeds Castle was being advertised on the London Underground!

Stream the Phil Spencer show if you can as that gives you the history and a good look around the interior, cellars, history books, etc.

Not far away from my inlaws. Some fantastic places in that area. You've got Hever Castle, Sissinghurst, Scotney Castle, Nymans and plenty more too. As and when life gets back on track, a weekend stay in Sussex/Kent and venturing to these sort of places (especially if you're an NT member for some of them) wouldn't be a shabby use of time ;-)

It's a shame so many Castle's were sacked after the Baron's revolt and as a result of the Civil War. I don't think there are many intact ones over than down south.

Corfe is a really lovely ruin atop a hill and on a train route from Swanage.

There are some stunning ones in Wales. Dinefwr probably my favourite because of the newer house, the meadows, marshes and then the old castle ruin which gives stunning panoramas. Theres also a lovely ruin at Llansteffan which overlooks the river mouth which is really scenic.

We got NT membership about 10 years ago when we went to Cornwall and gadded about and when you look through the guide book, it shows how many stunning old buildings there are dotted around. Sadly not that many in and around South Yorkshire. Nostell Priory is a good day out though and has a lovely walled garden.

I visited there about 20 years ago. We were travelling down to All Tomorrows Parties (small music festival at Pontins, Rye on Sea).

It is well worth a visit.

i went to a wedding there a few years ago. It’s absolutely stunning. Well worth a visit (and a stay over if the budget isn’t tight).

It’s more the case that NT don’t have any round here, there’s more EH in S Yorks. Also a few council and privately owned round here.

Not worth seeing. It'll probably be falling apart again soon.

"Where is Leeds Castle " ? is a question that crops up on most of the popular TV quiz shows.
It's amazing how so many contestants still reply " Yorkshire", when as we know it's a popular
    attraction in Kent.

We seem to be one of the popular answers on Pointless to the question " which English football teams
have only spent one season in the Premiership." ?

Yes (had to look it up, it’s been a few years since we had NT membership).

A brilliant BBC film from 1976 about a couple on a camping holiday on the Jurassic coast.
Well worth a watch, even now.

Mike Leigh - one of his earliest & funniest outings. It's about a camping trip that goes badly wrong, but part of the trip is a visit to Corfe Castle.
