For Covid reasons. https://www.themillers.co.uk/news/2...-statement---rotherham-united-v-derby-county/
You do wonder don’t you. Convenient if you have a couple of players out. Just call in “sick”. Job done.
Things seem to be spiraling out of control, has complacency with the regs set in this season. Clubs are still supposed to have, according to the EFL, "stringent, robust and regularly reviewed protocols". Infections among players/club employees seem far higher than they were on restart in June.
The way things are going the season might have to be suspended by Jan/Feb. If they decide final placings on points per game we'd better rack some more up sharpish!
They shouldn't bother with PPG, just go with the placings as they are. It will serve those clubs right who have played less games due to COVID sloppiness.
It will be interesting going forward what happens at games. For example everyone in the vulnerable category gets a vaccine and Boris relaxes mask wearing, ties and social distancing. Covid will still be around so say a club gets a covid case will they still be allowed to call a game off?
That makes sense. If everyone at high risk is protected and rules get relaxed than things should no longer be allowed to get called off.
I agree with this. The protocol from the F.A. and Premier League was that fixtures had to be fulfilled to avoid pile ups later on in the season - even if it meant U23s/U18s players playing. But the Newcastle game has kind of opened the floodgates I reckon. Put it this way, if Woodrow, Mowatt, James and Sollbauer become infected then we'll be doing the same I imagine.
