I can't begin to tell you how shocked I am to hear that. I've had to sit down. I assumed you'd been to every home game since 1950.
Correct. We scored our 3 in the second half in 7 minutes (after their 3 in the first seven minutes). It was a brilliant header from Cunningham. I thought he was going to be a star. Hmmm.
trouble is we filmed everything on a pin hole camera back then, its like watching a game without my glasses on
Shame he had two left feet below them. Although to be fair he scored a cracker at Chelsea when we won 3-0
Tony had 2 or maybe 3 brothers who all played non-league football. At the time Tony was with Lincoln and then us I used to play against one of them - Sylvester. Like Tony he was big, strong and physical. Every game against him was a battle, no quarter asked or given and at the end we'd shake hands, smile and tell each other well played. My body would fall apart now faced with those challenges! Anyway, I talked to him a couple of times over a pint after games about Tony and remember him saying how much he enjoyed playing for us, despite it not working out quite as well as he hoped.
1-0 at Bumhole Lane 1996 to put us top of the league please. Goals on Sunday did highlights but never seen full game played back. Was a cracking afternoon that, freezing cold and little John turning in the box to send a full away end mental.
I've never seen footage of the midweek Rotherham home game where we sealed promotion in 1981, or the Newport home game which followed where we had a mathematical chance of the title. I can't even remember celebrations after said Rotherham game, unlike the promotion party v Grimsby two years previously, which is vivid in my memory.
I'll put you all out of your misery. It's Rotherham United V Barnsley 14th November 1981. A absolute classic from Millmoor also present is a Football Focus feature that was broadcast at dinnertime on the day of the game as far as I'm aware this is also unseen since originally shown. I'll post it on here and elsewhere in the next couple of days. Please spread the word as this is something a bit special.
A classic! Good choice mate. I look forward to watching it again! I won't spoil it but there's a hat-trick
remember that lane outside to get out,I was only a kid my feet did not touch the floor all way down it, so dangerous
