where did you get full coverage, what a find wish I could spend one more day watching that team live, this have to do
A prelude to Hillsborough that was; South Yorkshire's finest blocking the top of the lane while still letting people out of the ground at the bottom, what possibly could go wrong?
is that what happened my neighbour who used to take me to match had not had hold of my collar swear I would have been trampled rocks and bricks start raining down at one point too or am i thinking of another game
Yep, there were horses at the top of the lane. If you were near the front you were likely to get trod on, 5hit on, or your face pressed up against a horses ar5e.
i got squashed against a wall at Middlesboro by a big white horses ar5e, copper did it on purpose, then got chased after game, was scarey that game after and before
we made some noise though that day, remember looking round and feeling like I was with family, youreds
I was contacted by someone on here a couple of years ago who had heard about me and said him family had some tapes. This game was in among them. Other than that I have no clue how it came I to existence.
That lane had walls as I remember with supporting buttresses every 10 yards or so. You could hardly breathe as you were swept past them. It was awful. My dad said someone would be killed if they fell over. A couple of years before the Hillsborough disaster I reckon. Great game though.
In the words of Max Boyce: “I know, cos I was there”. That Railway End was full though, with Reds fans all over the ground. Estimates of up to 10,000 Reds, clearly outnumbering the home fans. A reyt game. Ronnie Moore (complete with hat) scored two that day and was one of the Division’s leading scorers that year. Yet I never heard a single Reds fan then or since say they’d swap him for Big Trev or Derrick Parker. Oh, and he conceded a penalty to get us back to 2-2. Look out for the power with which Banger hits it.
In the crush of the lane, my boss at the time had his wallet lifted from his inside coat pocket. Christ knows how they managed it, there was barely enough room to breathe!
