I voted leave for purely far left reasons. I believe institutions like the EU have killed community spirit through the advent of globalisation. For not one second do I want to ‘get the darkies out’ or whatever it is the vile Tory leavers are coming out with currently. Don’t bunch me in with those lovely people. I voted leave for purely extreme left reasons. My argument is , maybe you aren’t socialist/Communist enough to understand the reasons I voted to leave. Has that 2unt Blair or Campbell clouded your opinion? Have they persuaded you that it is the socialist stance to remain? Or have you been conned by Kier too? For the record, I voted for a Corbyn led Labour Party , as I felt he represented the best chance for old, fair labour values to be prevalent in the party. Not in a month of Sunday’s would I vote for this current Tory lite waste of time. The people United will never be defeated.
Mate, the actual thread title says "who voted Leave then Tory" so I don't think you qualify. Couldn't agree more on your final paragraph.
Fa Fair enough mate. Anybody who voted leave then entrusted this set of morons to implement it needs their heads checked.
Nope. They have made my opinion even stronger that the likes of Blair and Starmer are basically tories in disguise. In Corbyn, we had the potential to have the best Labour leader since Smith and Wilson, but the same rags (and others) you are referencing, killed his chances. I assume you are of the opinion that Blair’s politics brought ‘everyone’ to the Labour Party and made it ‘electable’.
Also, what a lazy opinion. I’m sure you’d love to live in the woke (racist and fascist) utopias of Italy and the Netherlands. Great non-racist, EU countries. If you don’t think 80% of EU member states don’t have the same shameful racist views as the UK then you are deluded.
I completely understand your stance, but respectfully disagree that a leave vote in the 2016 context was the best option for lefties. I'm far-left myself, and I see countless issues with the EU - namely: 1. It's a neoliberal institution looking out for itself and subtly promoting capitalism as a 'Democratic value'. 2. It does indeed contribute to the killing of local and national culture 3. The way it bullies 'outside' nations and trading blocs is abhorrent and brutally capitalistic Etc, etc. But a leave vote in 2016 was never going to be a vote for Lexit; it was a vote for Tory Brexit. Lexit would still have been a little difficult in the short term, but I would have been willing to see past that if my human rights were secure and I felt those in charge of us had our best long-term interests at heart. But these were and are Tories, and their only loyalty is to disaster capitalist speculators, Tory party donors and hedge fund managers. Any Brexit under their rule would give us no benefits, but with many things to lose. As I said, the EU is imperfect, but it is at least more humane to its citizens than our current national government is. I'm only allowed to live here with my 'foreign' wife because the EU overruled the UK government on it. And whilst I do believe in retaining our local culture, I'm also not sure globalisation is a right-wing value. I feel it's quite left to understand that our nationality tends to be an accident of birth, and not any kind of achievement. Being left-wing is to empathise with those who are less fortunate, and try to raise them to be equal. I think the term 'globalisation' has been tainted over the years, but I do see myself as an internationalist on the whole.
Neo-Liberalism is a cancer that must be defeated, however it cannot even be targeted until neo-fascism has been eradicated. This is the problem
I’ve never perceived much difference between far-left and far-right to be honest. At its extreme it’s like trying to get a *** paper between Hitler and Stalin.
So according to this thread, the EU is both good and bad. If you vote Tory you’re a c nut and if you plan to vote Labour you’re not far off being a Tory. Gotta love the BBS!
It’s almost like the BBS isn’t a single entity with a single voice and different people have different opinions. Weird.
@JamieBreweryStander even though I think I can see where you're coming from, surely the only other option if we arent in Europe is going to be Hate that pov. Communism is about everyone having a say, everyone owning the means of production. The fact that historically it has ended in dictatorships doesn't mean that someone with far left views is anywhere near fascism, and more to do with enduring capitalism elsewhere.
Me and my tories vote was a wasted vote here. And before anyone wants a running argument then don't bother I have had enough of arguing for the last 33 months since they implemented article 50.
People like Jacob Rees-Mogg will be making a killing out of Brexit and it was people like him that pill0cked the public, he is set for an £800,000 dividend from Somerset Capital a hedge fund he set up and his now moving his company to Dublin. Get Brexit Done Ya!!!
