The four guys that Trump pardoned that carried out the massacre on civilians must be feeling particularly blessed!
It is the norm for Presidents to pardon on their way out. It’s not the norm for presidents to pardon their friends friends in return for their support. Nor is it the norm for a president to increase the killing of prisoners. Would you like to set up a post to count the race of those the president has murdered and the race of those he’ll be pardoning?
They've not done very well with the law so far though, have they? Anyway, this BS apparently has to happen today if it is going to happen. Let's get together tomorrow morning, shall we? I'll buy you a virtual pint Casual if this malarkey sees the light of day!
Haha....now you bring 'commuting' sentences into it, then yes, 300+, but not 300+ pardons. Or so I've heard.....
Look at those nasty evil democrats. They want to *checks notes* make poor people more comfortable. The BAŠTARDS. EVIL PEOPLE. *insert comparison between tories and democrats here*
Did you really read the article? He has not indicated he will refuse to sign the bill. I hope it was in jest that you think I am a defender and supporter of Trump based on this (the clue was in the Thread title BTW) and nothing could be further from the truth. Nevertheless I expect more from you as one of the more sensible posters on here. Amazing how he came out with this logical sensible and critical statement whilst at a time is fleecing his supporters one last time for donations to his lost 'stop the steal' campaign which in reality is going towards paying off some of his huge personal debt. Any doubts we non US citizens harboured as to whether to believe everything we read about his ideologies and mentality have surely been put to bed in his post election result petulance and incomprehensible refusal to accept reality. On that note, are Loko and CT one and the same ? I can't believe we would have two such adept WUMs (surely they cannot really believe what they are espousing regarding the Orange one) both singing from the same hymn sheet.
Only if that 'rich' country has its own house in order. If your economy is strong I agree. If you are running a huge deficit you really need to put your own population first. There is s difference between rich country and a country with rich people. Put it this way, If you have 5 kids and can only afford to cloth and feed 3 or 4 of them would you then give some of your income to someone else's family to feed their kids. Same for Governments managingour money as it is for someone managing the household family budget. In good times you can do your bit for others, in lean times you cut your cloth accordingly, Charity begins at home and family comes first.
Maybe if you weren’t so quick to reply amongst the anger you’d realise I was talking about the use of the Clemency power and not pardons isolated. Honestly, just calm down a little. I was only sharing something I found quite interesting.
“But Obama” has the same energy as “But Corbyn” is all I was trying to say. I’m just taking the piss at the constant comparisons to Obama really.
Glad to hear it, Mr T! I have to confess I didn't read all of the article. Anything to do with Trump causes an allergic reaction in me. Funnily enough, I get the same reaction when Robert Jenerick is on TV - which is rather too often! And stop calling me sensible - it's totally unwarranted!
Not really mate. Like I’ve said, it wasn’t a pro or anti tweet in any political direction. I just found it interesting and as expected wasn’t something anyone appears to be familiar with (me included). Nothing more but let’s keep getting feisty with each other because it’s 2020. And I voted for Corbyn so that’s wasted on me.
Voted for Corbyn but would vote for Trump if in the US. Honestly I think we have very similar views, you’re just influenced too much by American media. I’m not saying that to belittle you in any way or make it sound like you’re unable to think for yourself, but if you simplify it to a Right/Left scale, which obviously completely removes any nuance of all views, even AOC is further to the right than Corbyn. What Conservative media refers to as communism, which you apparently bought into, is right wing is most of the world.
I think many people draw these - IMO flawed - household analogies when considering politics. I certainly think for many the notion of money helping people in less developed countries was at the heart of the Brexit vote. My personal view is there is more than sufficient wealth in developed countries to end their own poverty tomorrow. They don't because of political choices - that shouldn't then abdicate their responsibility to poorer countries who are on the whole in that situation due to either not having had the same inherent advantages, or at worst because they have been exploited by those richer nations.
