A few recent(ish) ones spring to my mind. Losing 6-1 at Newcastle. We did the corporate day too so were sat amongst Newcastle fans who relentlessly took the piss. Spent the last half hour in the bar paying £4.80 for a pint of Carlsberg. 5-1 at Brighton - 4 hours of absolute silence in the car on the way home. Altrincham...... Say no more. 5-0 at Huddersfield (and I worked at the largest secondary school in the area at the time.) The game that got cancelled away at Millwall because of the weather. We'd got to junction 4 on the M1 when the announcement was made Any time we lost at Hillsborough. Sure there are more that I can't, or don't want to remember.
Burnley nowt to do with result just Driving there from fev, fecking awful. Been long way round on motorway ever since
In 80s at Blackburn,we was drawing 0-0 and Joe Joyce too a quick throw trying to set up an attack in injury time,we lost posession and they broke away and scored in last seconds,1 nil defeat ,we was all moaning about should have took a point as it was top of table clash, worse was to come gets outside ,we often went in home end,the away end our fans were being escorted back to train station,a few broke away and I ended up getting a kicking from my own fans,my I support Barnsley like you was drowned out by the cheers,oh well saved me right for not wearing colours and going in home end
Portsmouth away. 2000ish. Bassett in charge. Arrive late. Steve Claridge 3 goals. Game over. Bus home.
5-0 away at Blackburn, when somebody tried to invade the dugout to get at Clarke. Not only all that, but got lost on the way back and ended up in central Manchester.
Stoke. Boxing Day at their old ground. ******* freezing. We lost one nil I looked down at my feet at sone point and there were literally hundreds of white mice running over our feet. Coach back with the Dove had rivers of piss running down it. Unhappy days.
Having to go back to Plymouth on a Tuesday night and draw after getting it cancelled at 4-1 up. Same as op said, game at millwall, we was already at the ‘watering hole’ come out of first bar after 3 pints to move on and was 6 inch deep in snow, and got cancelled when we got to next pub
The Brighton and Huddersfield ones were shockers. Coventry away when we lost 4-0 was bad. Worst one I’ve had is Watford away under Wilson. The M1 was closed on the way down so we had to divert around Woburn, meaning we arrived late. We hot to the ground at 3 but you can’t park anywhere close so we finally got parked and run to the ground. We heard their first goal on the way in, sat down in our seats about 20 past 3 just as the second went in. Think we lost 3 or 4 nil in the end, we’d completely lost interest by then.
Doncaster away wilson#2 era, don't think we strung 3 passes together in 90 minutes no shots on target, freezing cold lost 1 nil to a late goal the scoreline flattered us and the rovers fans on p+g were taking the piss after saying the worst Barnsley side ever to come to the keepmoat and tipping us for the drop.
Preston, a couple of years back. Went out for a few pints with work colleagues. Got on the train back only to find that Blackburn fans had smashed the bogs up on the way home from a "friendly" at Blackpool. Spent most of the journey home scrunched up or dancing about pi55ing missen until after many delays we could dash off the train at Bradford to go to the only bogs unlocked on the whole route - very nearly didn't make it with my dignity in-tack.
OMG feel your pain, once got desperate to go at funeral in cemetery it was freezing, vicar seemed to go on forever, hope we not turned this thread into a time you thought you was going to pee yourself thread
Losing at Reading 7 v 0 & getting back to my van to find I had a puncture & a parking ticket , etched in my memory for ever .
Portsmouth away - pissing it down stood on the open away terrace - getting battered lost 0-3 I think Middlesboro away - New Years Day (can't remember year) watching the players skate round Ayresome Park before the game - shouldn't have played. Watched the players skate round for 10 minutes then ref called game off - idiot Losing at Leicester 1998 to confirm relegation from PL - awful day
Portsmouth away in the 96/97 season, lost 4-2. Wolves with an easy game the following evening against Grimsby. An awful feeling that we were going to get so close to promotion to the PL and miss out. Despair that that might happen tops any of the thrashings we have had, to me that was something I’d waited all my life for and we were going to blow it (ever the optimist). Then Wolves drew with Grimsby and the rest is history.
Oldham away about 1989. Lost 2 nil, not had a shot on goal. Officially the coldest it’s ever been at a football match. Millwall away. Lost 1 nil Scott Wiseman one goal. The absolute worst game of football ever. As for the OP, Millwall away the game that got cancelled was cracking, day spent all day on the lash around London instead! Same for the cancelled game with charlton
