Ah right ok. I donate to enough charities thank you. I just wanted to get another £100 out of you, seeing as you are so sure.
With him, not you. Although if he does go to prison, I presume you'll be stood outside with the Proud Boys smashing stuff up.
This is a pretty low argument technique, trying to manipulate people who are against your position into putting up money with you doing nothing in return. You're only doing it so that you can only label anyone who disagrees as a coward or selfish. I'll happily put up £20/50 if you're willing to match it.
As much as he definitely deserves it, I think he'll weasel out of it. Even if he's convicted he'll never see the inside of a prison cell. Secret service wouldn't allow it. In fact I don't think secret service would ever let him get arrested.
Hang on. That's more than a little bit uncalled for don't you think? I'm against anybody smashing anything up. Republicans, Democrats, Skin Heads, Hospitality Protesters, BLM Protestors, Football Fans, the list is endless.
Not me for one, Casual! I prefer to place my bets on the horseracing, about which I know slightly more than I do about American politics! And my charitable donations are, and will remain private. But let's be right for a minute. Trump can't be "re-elected". He lost the election and that's all there is to it. His presidential term ends on 20 January, and there is no lawful route to another one, or any extension beyond that date. If he should continue to occupy the White House after that date it can only be by way of what would amount to a coup. Crazy as the Republicans are at times, I don't think they would be up for supporting him in that unlawful activity or for contravening the constitution. And the Police and military are not, and don't regard themselves (I believe) as Trump's private army. So, fun as this little flight of fantasy is, there is no further mileage in it. I hope that proceedings swiftly follow after Trump's exit, because a civilised world-leading democracy must have no truck with all this baloney. The world has too many problems to be distracted by idiots like Trump.
Hardly... If I lose I'm going to pay £20 to charity and I'm only asking the same of anyone else who has put in their two pennorth and has courage in their conviction. Why should I have to put up multiple £20s to other peoples' £20 in a bet that is currently so heavily stacked against me? I fully expected that Fonzie wouldn't participate and it sounds like you are looking to back out too which is your prerogative.
Well, as I suspected people are showing their colours. If Trump can't get re-elected why would you not be prepared to pledge £20 to a Barnsley homeless charity?
No. You asked me to strike a bet with you. Of which I'm happy to oblige. I'm not piggy backing onto your bet with Marc. If you were a man of integrity you would have already paid your £20 to the charity that means so much to you. Instead of making them wait. You can own your own stupidity.
That's fine. I was only inviting you to risk £20 as I am. If you aren't prepared to that is entirely up to you and I'm sure no-one will think negatively of you given that you already donate so much to charity. I will certainly pay my £20 if the bet is settled against me, which should be by the 20th January at the latest. I'm sure that BIADS would be equally appreciative of the donation in 3 weeks time as they would be receiving it now.
Not backing out at all, just calling you out on your low attempt to manipulate those who are against you into a position where you can accuse them of being cowards, selfish etc. Which you're proving to be correct by trying to say I'm "backing out" of a bet which you proposed whilst putting nothing on the line yourself.
I said I was. I then said I'd up it to £100 if you wanted to. You then soiled yourself. I just find this 'interesting' that's all.
They're not showing any colours Mr Casual! Sorry Cas, I'm just not playing your game. After all, you can't know what I have or have not already paid to that or any other charity. But as I said, that's private. Quite happy to continue to debate it with you though - even though I disagree with your view!
I'm putting £20 on the line to BIADS and I'm asking you to put £20 on the line yourself to a Barnsley homeless shelter. I can't force you though Mansfield.
Don't play the game then Orsenkaht. It's not compulsory. I'm just surprised that you aren't willing to pledge £20 to charity on a bet that you feel that you have zero chance of losing.
You're not as good at manipulating and gaslighting people as you think you are. I don't know if it works for you offline but the red flags couldn't be more obvious on here.
Have I? If you were so sure you would have pledged £20 on a bet you can't lose. Looks like me and @Marc are the only people on this thread with any real conviction. I salute you Marc.
