Im not in that camp as it happens I wonder if Australian citizens are saying these English forigners taking our jobs? Do Australia have a free movement of people letting anyone in? No. Its not needed.

    Exhibit D.

No idea what he's voted for. No clue. When questioned on it couldn't explain it.

And you wonder where frustration and anger comes from.

Well you’d be hard pressed to find a cabbie in Sydney that wasn’t of Greek origin.

The rumours are they will do soon. There's talk of a Canada, Aus, NZ, UK deal with free movement between us all. There's slight talk of the US being involved too, but I think that's unlikely.

I did - that has nothing to do with what you'd written.

The point was that there had been 13 years of "left" leadership in the last 41. You then said that those 13 years weren't even that left leaning. To which I agreed.

So I think then we can both agree that to blame the left for any of this, when they haven't been in charge for 41 years, is completely wrong.

After all, you said it yourself just then.

You don't know if I voted what I voted or me. I told you about other countries who don't have free movement of people how imo it doesn't benefit any uk nationals you offered nothing back no example of how in your opinion free movement in Europe benefits UK nationals and just tried to belittle me, you do this quite often on here if people don't share your opinion abit childish tbh. Anyway not point in carrying this on have a nice day.

    Errr what?
Can you try again in English please?
To remind you: my question is ‘how’ do we get migrant workers without freedom of movement?

Well it doesnt now its gone. But its a huge problem now for the many that do travel to Europe for Business - that includes all actors musicians etc, many engineers financial services personnel - possibly even lorry drivers, It depends what field you work in as to how it affects you. If you just work locally in a shop call centre, etc it makes no difference but if you work in my field of electronics or most other branches of engineering, medical research etc its almost all pan european. My entire career in the electronics industry has relied on me being able to travel for work and almost everyone I know in my industry has benefited hugely by the free movement opportunities, and that before we start on the benefits we have all received from carers doctors nurses fruit pickers etc etc coming here with no problems. There are loads of benefits to everyone for free movement whether directly or indirectly, there are very few benefits to stopping it

I'm sure they will still be opportunities for people from Europe and elsewhere to come and work here. As it goes many doctors, nurses, consultants etc in my experience are nationals from countries outside Europe who aren't involved in the free movement of people.

They apply , like the rest of the non EU world has to and they will come .

    upload_2020-12-28_15-46-5.png

I'm not quite sure what you know about Eastern European politics but above is Poland . You see the political party in blue ? They make Boris Johnson look look like a cuddly toy when it comes to right wing ideals . The UK always has and always will be a popular destination for immigration in or out of the EU . By the way , the party in blue is PIS who want to ban abortions and you want to be a part of that club ? No thanks .

But what about all the low skilled workers we need?
The vast majority of our migrant workers aren’t skilled. And the EU allowed us to check criminal records etc.

    So what’s your point?

I used to travel to Europe 3 4 times a year in a gigging band before FoM and the EU never had any problems. The carnets and border checks (at every border within what is the Schengen zone e.g. Venlo) were a pain but do-able. Are you saying that Brexit and the end of FoM means people from the UK can no longer work in Europe and vice-versa 'cos that's ****** mate. The automatic right ends but it means a bit more paperwork and planning is required and you can't just rock up and work . You could not do that even under FoM anyway. Same as living in many EU countries and getting permanent residency .The principle of FoM did not completely override individual countries' entry requirements. In order to do so you still had/have to meet certain criteria (e.g. minimum household income).

The way people talk about FoM makes it sound like you could just turn up live and work with no constraints or meet any requirements. By the same token without FoM they make it sound like no one will be able to live work in Europe. Again utter ******. In many cases the same people who were deemed eligible to reside/work will still be eligible but there will be more paperwork and hoops to jump through. The point about fruit pickers ... if the UK govt deems them essential then they will get permits to work here with or without FoM. Same for international companies.
Yes in the short term there will be hiccups but people lived and worked in Europe and Europeans lived and worked in the UK before FoM and will do so again. it is fear of change that is driving this negativity.
