Looks like that's off tonite now. Can't see the 20-21 season finishing. Plus these teams that aren't completing fixtures and the FA Cup kicks in soon. So be another knock on effect to the already crammed schedule. It's only going to get worse imho.
Think it’ll be paused for a few weeks. Cancel the fa cup to make some space - won’t do too much but it’ll help.
They can't pause it because of the financial implications. Teams will have fixture pile ups. Maybe a later finish to the season and later start to next will become the norm? I can't see clubs ready to play being stopped from doing so.
My thoughts exactly. There doesn't need to be a fixed end date to this season even if we have to play into May/June then start next season in September. Getting the football season finished on time is the least of our worries.
Football coming back after the lockdown was a big boost to many people, me included. Now we have the vaccines authorised why not include elite sports people in the early receivers of the vaccine. The target is 1 million vaccinations a week, the total number of professional footballers is less than 5000 or less than 0.5% of the first week’s target. Every club has medical staff who could administer the vaccine and this could circumvent the ‘fire-break’ and maintain enjoyment for many of us stuck in the house awaiting our vaccinations. Just a thought and no doubt people may argue that prioritising footballers or any other sports people is not right.
We need something more than go to work, social distance, stay in at weekends, pay our taxes, rinse and repeat.
