MATTY JAMES RETURNS TO LEICESTER CITY Club News Following the conclusion of a three month loan spell, Matty James has returned to parent club, Leicester City. Continue reading on the official site...
Argh damn it, presume they've got an offer from a bigger Championship club lined up to move him onto. It's now imperitive we don't let Mowatt go this window, we can't afford to lose our entire central midfield in one hit.
Not a surprise as Leicester did the same with Drinkwater. He will be a loss but he never did 90 minutes and we need guys who can complete a full game.
It's a big loss, but probably outside the club's control. I'm sure his experience has been invaluable & I would have thought the position will have been known internally for a while, meaning recruitment plans could be adjusted accordingly. It probably means Styles moving into his preferred position in the centre & hopefully us getting some cover at wing back, depending how far J Williams is away from returning.
It’s no coincidence that our form improved after he arrived. A class player and a big loss. It wouldn’t surprise me if Forest or Derby have put an offer in for him.
Real shame but reading the article on the official site that doesnt sound like we want to keep him - I think its a mistake though the one area we are not desperate to strengthen is CM unless Mowatt also goes - if we lose both Mowatt and James this window I will be seriously unhappy
That's a big loss to us, our form definitely improved with him in the team and when Big Val took over.
Huge loss and an absolute class act. I'm not surprised he's not staying, but I really hoped he would. Absolutely imperative we keep Mowatt even if just to the end of the season.
Massive loss for us. Hoped we might have been able to keep him until the end of the season, but it seems not. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him turning up at another Championship club.
Nice sentiments from Dane Murphy. After what he did for us during his stay at the Club, it begs the question why a similar form of words couldn't have been used to thank Daniel Stendel for his contribution at the Club, after his contract was terminated by the board.? Yes he probably transgressed, yes the Board were probably not best pleased with his actions, but after the whole issue was satisfactorily resolved, little harm would have been done in retrospectively wishing him all the best for his future, whilst recognising and thanking him for his sterling efforts on behalf of the supporters and the board during the time he was at Oakwell.?
I wouldn't think that the matter is closed yet. Who else would want to part with money for him at this stage? He is bound to be going somewhere on loan, or sold for the second half of the season and it could still be us.
They won’t want him cup tied, so nor surprising he’s gone back. He’ll get a medical & discuss his future. Be interesting to see if he goes up for sale..
He may not have completed 90 mins but that doesn’t mean to say he couldn’t. Also, it’s currently 5 subs available is it necessary for a player to complete the full game, I don’t think so
Lots of mention above about him going to a bigger(?) Championship club, or even Derby / Forest, but there are at least two prem teams, currently adrift, where he would absolutely walk into their teams and improve them. He might not keep them up, but I am guessing at least one would be interested in taking a punt.
Hopefully he’ll come back still, but folk are quick to forget that the guy’s on £20k+ a week, and could still command a few £mil transfer fee despite his contract coming to the end in the summer. If rumours are true of subsidising his wages upto the tune of £18k a week, then that’s too far for us - especially with the current economic climate football is in.
