Irrelevant with the current pandemic. We’ve lost commercial income and although the club did well for season ticket sales, that’s not to say the same will happen again for next season. The Covid tests are costing thousands a week I believe too. Plus then there’s keeping harmony in the drawing room. Most players won’t mind MJ being paid a bit more by our club whilst on loan, but to increase that to almost double what everyone is getting might be a step too far. Also, it might stop us bringing someone else in too. Love to see him come, but only for a wage contribution the club are happy with.
You said they did the same before. They didn't. Drinkwater was a Manchester United player. They agreed to loan him back to us for the rest of the season at the beginning of the month, then sold him to Leicester City.
Reading (Leicestershire live) that James is going to Coventry City for the 2nd half of season on loan. Very disappointing if true.
But he's dropped from the Premier League to go out on loan and never completes 90 minutes. I doubt he expected to play a full game week in week out but he's probably annoyed at never being allowed to.
If he's off to Cov then I would have to assume that it's the clubs decision to not keep him. Which may seem odd, but can see some logic in the decision, considering we have Styles, Kane, Palmer and Mowatt competing for CM positions. However, that does mean we are reliant on signing a LWB and keeping Mowatt. Unless Whiteman is still an option...
I think it might be the new kick off routine that was the final nail in the coffin. Added to the neck ache.
