Decent interview. Shame about James. I was balled off when I heard he’d gone back then to cov but big Val knows what he wants. Good to here that the incoming players was his wish players too.
He’s going to regret it. I reckon he knows it too. Think we only signed him because we didn’t think we would sign Kane.
He’s gone in on Simoes hasn’t he? Fair play, if he’s not giving it all for the club and is lacking professionalism then well done on moving him out of the door.
How do you work that out sir? Are you suggesting the team will drop more points or something? Matty James is no Messi in my opinion hence he's gone sideways if not backwards with his move. He's done the club a service and no doubt helped the younger players so he deserves thanks but I for one am glad that Ismael wants to see homegrown/non loanee talent come on. It's a positive for me in context and I think Ismael knows exactly what he's doing. That's my take anyway. Edit: p.s. I'm assuming you're a sir. Not very proper. Sorry.
Not so sure. He's only a youngster after all. Fair enough to loan him out but that's twice he's publicly called him out.
I think that’s a mistake. I see the logic, but we should have learnt that the mix of experience is beneficial to bringing on the young lads.
Hmm. .was it his decision though? Reading between the lines I think he was probably 'advised' by Dane Murphy that the club expects him to develop our own youngsters rather than splurging bigger wages on a non Barnsley player
Getting the Struber only likes to have a small squad to work with or young players with games under their belts no matter what league they play in are fine for the Championship type vibes?
I was impressed with what I take to be the genuine candour of big Val. I do think Kane has more to offer than we have yet seen and think Simeos would do well to take heed of the comments and buckle down to make the best of his obvious talent.
Totally disagree , Val is his own man & not afraid to say it as he sees it , he says it was his decision & does not implicate any other influence ,so I do not know how you come to the conclusion that he was advised by Dane Murphy or any other for that matter.
Listen to the interview again. He doesn't say it was his decision. He says 'it was a decision for the club,we had to take this decision. We have plenty of young guys in this position' Don't get me wrong,I like the bloke and think he's doing a great job. But he's a head coach and works within the constraints of his job description. That includes taking guidance from the CEO and making decisions that are in the best interests of the club, both on and off the pitch.
I'm in agreement. James has been steady in front of the back four but he's no match winner. I cant remember whether he has any assists this time around but he rarely puts through a defence splitting pass. He's good but not a world beater.
On the radio Sheffield interview , he says the he made the decision & there is no inference of a third party, he also points out that the two signings made so far were his choice , Dane Murphy or anyone else gets mentioned
