I know this is pedantic but certain peoples' gardens traverse two counties, what then? Dont cross county lines to get to the shed?

I think people travelling long distances to walk Snowdon and the lakes etc is out of order as it is unnecessary and will involve stopoffs and potentially need breakdown and other support services, but anyone walking within a 20-30 mins journey isn't taking the piss if you ask me.

Yes, I think you’re right about the drones in first lockdown. I’m not anti police either but this kind of over zealous, totally unnecessary type of approach does anger me a tad.

If you are going to YSP, book your ticket in advance and the indoor areas are closed - and don't expect to park at the country park either (thats closed - or was just before Christmas).

The problem is, if they let one person, can they stop others? - Lets say they allow people to travel 5 miles to the Peak District to exercise what about those that live 6 miles away, or 10? They're doing it wrong, but trying to cut down on people traveling into the area before they get inundated with half of Sheffield.

Good luck enforcing that in general.

This is why it needs to be clear in law i.e. within a X mile radius. If not then they shouldn't be stopping anyone as they have no grounds to do so at present.

I'm glad they are, it was a twitter post I first saw the story on and some were defending it.
You're right though much more common sense on here.

The irony here is that while targeting people who just want to go to for a walk and stay safe, the people just visiting each others homes are just left to it.

Edward & Tubbs Tattsyrup were the first to be fined I think.

The heavy handed tactics of some police isn't going to get support off the public. This is a good video to watch as it's the first time a prominent MP has come out in public so clearly with their thoughts on getting back to normal.

When you think that 1 in 30 in London have tested +ve and the rest of the country it is 1 in 50 I want the Police to do whatever to stop the spread.

Yes, but he’s a Tory and therefore what he says isn’t worth a speck of bell-end cheddar. Johnson says he’s a ‘libertarian’ - stop laughing at the back there.

A calmer head from the mum may have stopped that but still the police involved need to be sacked as they have a duty to protect people and they did not need go respond like that regardless of what had gone before. Has this even been reported anywhere?

We tried to go on the 22nd (wife's birthday), went to YSP, then Pugney's (full) and ended up at Worsborough Res too.

I notice they are ignoring the increasing numbers of under-60s admitted to hospital and ICU over the last couple of months. This might not (yet) be translating into deaths, but it is using increasing resources and tying them up for longer. Currently over 340 between 45 and 64 in ICU - and I read earlier that the survival rate once admitted is around 37%.

I agree with you within reason - but this story in the OP is not within reason its just stupid. - A short car journey to an open space is explicitly permitted in the guidence and regulations. In any case 2 people going for a socially distanced walk in a wide open area is as safe as it can get. Anyone living in a town is far better to make a short drive to an open space than walk down narrow pavements and possibly alleys contacting far more people.

Thats aside from the fact that if you have several car loads of police in one car park they could be far more effectively used elsewhere

even where I live I can walk to the woods fairly easily but there are a couple of narrow paths where if someone is coming the other way you cant maintain 2m distance. If I drive to the woods I dont need to ever come within 10m of anyone else

Of course if we wanted to do this propely we should have specified an acceptable distance you are allowed away from home, but I really dont see a problem with 5 miles
