I'm absolutely miles away from the edges because I'm happy to condemn him at equal opportunities. All I've ever done is show reasons why people might vote Republican, then list the policies, to try and show it isn't some kind of 75 million person cult supporting Trump like people make out. You can then say 'But Trump. Racist. Misogynist..' and I've never argued back on that once.

It's no different to replying when someone says 'Everyone who voted Brexit is racist' debate.

That isn't all you've done though even if you actually think it is. What you've done today is, when people are talking about trump specifically being banned from Twitter your response is that twitter choose what we see and it's unacceptable.. Can't you see why that at least appears to be you defending trump's right to be allowed to post hatred on twitter?

I think the scenario we ended up with close to 60 days later means something had to happen. But that doesn't change my view that censorship is a grey path to go down. You've got uncensored tweets from the Chinese Communist Party about terrible, terrible things, Democrats saying things like 'fight in the streets', and racists running wild.

I've haven't shouted from the rooftops 'Trump shouldn't be censored'. I treat this board as a conversation, so if you're engaged in a 'message' to someone you're talking it out and not planting your feet. It's yet another burst of messages where I've had to defend accusations against something I've never actually said. The pile-on today has been interesting.

Out of interest do you think he should be banned?

Given your interest in this I am astonished you are unaware of Brad Raffensperger, particularly given he has been all over the media for the past two weeks. He is the (Republican) Georgia Secretary of State who was called by Trump, and who then proceeded to cajole, bully, threaten him into ‘finding’ the 12k votes needed to overturn the election result in his state. Trump being the idiot he is, he apparently didn’t know that the call might be recorded and leaked! But if you say you are unaware then I believe you...

I’m predicting the response to be

“I think censorship by media companies is wrong”

Just enough to answer the question without answering it, while also not denouncing Trump.

You did say there are "credible alternative views" to him being racist when I really can't see that there are.

I responded to you saying that Twitter was like someone inviting you in to their house. I never mentioned anything suggesting Trump shouldn't be banned, and just suggested that censorship is a worry for me in general on Social Media as is their influence on what we see. I thought that months ago, I think that today, and I'll think it tomorrow. It's a level of power and influence that makes me uncomfortable.

The Trump ban was fair and needed in light of the situation. But you only have to go back to the censorship of the NY Times Hunter Biden article as a clear example of where the censorship can go wrong, in my opinion. An article censored, but then used by all mainstream media outlets weeks later when it was deemed to have some creedance.

    @TitusMagee - answer above.

To be honest I've had a lot less interest the last two months. I got to see my partner for the first time in nearly nine months, took around 25 days off work, and it was Christmas/New Year. I've posted way less as she was here until last Sunday. I've also not been overly enamoured with what's been going on post the election. I've been consistent in saying there's not enough evidence to change the result.

I know the phone call you mean (obviously). I'd just not picked up on the name.

Surely it was a general post about censorship. One that I agree with. Difficult subject this I'm absolutely against censorship in all forms. But that's assuming we live in a world where people aren't batsh1t mental. Unfortunately Trump falls outside of that. Loko doesn't though and I don't think it's fair to judge him on this when it's a point I believe both of us would generally agree with and usually stand up for. That Trump turned out to be even more mental than Loko believed isn't something we should hound someone about (imho).

But I also said you would have to believe he is racist based on what we know. The credible alternatives have been interviews with people of no obvious political persuasion saying things he's done for the black community and from their dealings with him. You might discard them, and that's your right, I might not. Is one of us better than the other? There's a certain former poster who had the same question raised about him. People would differ on that too.

I know you're trying to trip me up, or want to make me out to be something that I can guarantee I'm not, but what will you get out of that? What's your objective at coming at me at my every turn? It's tiring being hounded like this to be honest, and I'm not saying that for any sympathy, but imagine being on the defensive as often as I am. Especially when I haven't once dealt in conspiracy theories, QAnon (is that even right?), or faced up to someone aggressively to question who they are or make them out to be bad.

I just get the sense (and I don't think I'm the only one) that you consistently try to defend Trump without outright saying so, and it's that dishonesty which irks me.

I say what I think and give the opinion I have - normally with grounded reasoning, in my eyes, even if you don't agree with it. I'm not throwing out random comments and opinions that don't have any substance at all.

There's nothing wrong with being in 'the middle' and willing to criticise and praise (or defend these days) in equal measure. Just because you don't like that, it doesn't feel fair to hound me around the board trying to appease yourself. It's been an onslaught the last hour or so over something I never said and there's other examples in this thread as well. Like I said, I don't know what you want the end goal to be but I'm not sure it will make you feel any better.

Worth a watch, but also understand it’s a Netflix movie, so is also controlled by one of the biggest companies in the world....

I get the feeling that you are wanting to bully people who have any different view to you... I’m not sure how Loco has taken the bile you’ve said for the last hour.

Trump is an absolute crackpot... I have not read the offending tweets, or how he provoked the violence. But I must say that censorship on this scale generally leads to more division and hate.
