Makes my hair stand on end. Best version ever. Bass guitarist singing. best comedy group ever with Russ Abbot
Can’t believe nobody’s put this yet.... I used to have a version that at the end it used to say, “it could be worse your team could have lost 3-0 at home to Barnsley....” I used to think... my team is Barnsley!
notice that she has forgotten the words... "look around so that others can go on"..... she made that up cos she 'd forgotten the words.... quick, like... coyc
Russ's take on the Joy Division classic "Atmosphere" is more by bag TBH, but the vocals are great on this.
There She Goes by The La's. I remember this on the PA when I walked in the Ponty end when we played Charlton en route to the Prem.
Remember seeing them live at the Irish club when I was in Birmingham so definitely a song cheers me up too.
When he ( Clive Jones bass player and frontman with the black abbots where Russ Abbot took his name from after splitting with this variety/comedy act) kicks in with the 2nd half Helen. Blows me away. Was fortunate to see him sing it live. Extended version on several occasions. Went on in his own right fronting with full orchestra appearing at the palladium etc.
Saw Springsteen at St James' Park, Newcastle in 1984, we got there slightly late and he was doing "Born in the USA" as we got out of the car in a multi-story car park, made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. I think he played for something over 3 hours....
I never realised just how good a guitarist Prince was until I saw this. Unreal. Topped off by him making his guitar disappear at the end.
