MPs aren't allowed to call other members 'liars' as it is considered unparliamentary, but lying to Parliament is a criminal offence under the Powers, Privileges and Immunities of Parliaments and Provincial Legislatures Act, 2004. That said, it doesn't seem to be enforced with any great regularity.

 

It is enforced regularly George. I can’t give you an example or name names or even allude to a past example, but it is enforced almost daily. It’s a bit like the benefits of brexit, there’s just so many, it’s impossible to list them.

Actually that's not all the story....Belgium and France only banned it within their 12 mile limit, UK banned it in the whole of its territorial waters.
Apparently the "British" boats were largely funded and equipped by the Dutch, the leading expononents of pulse trawling.

That's really grinded my gears. It makes no sense whatsoever. Nobody wins, great. Just means if we ever get to see live bands again and have non-distancing gigs (which are ridiculous) then British bands are far less likely to do European tours, and we will miss out on bands coming here. You can just imagine the negotiation:
Tories: 'well we're not completely happy with everything on the table here'
EU: 'tell you what, we'll throw in Visa-free touring for musicians'
Tories: 'forget it, we've already asked them to retrain in other professions. We dont really care about up-and-coming artists in this country any more'

A Dutch TV network has filmed border officials confiscating ham sandwiches and other foods from drivers arriving in the Netherlands from the UK, under post-Brexit rules.

The officials were shown explaining import regulations imposed since the UK formalised its separation from the EU.

Under EU rules, travellers from outside the bloc are banned from bringing in meat and dairy products.

The rules appeared to bemuse one driver.

"Since Brexit, you are no longer allowed to bring certain foods to Europe, like meat, fruit, vegetables, fish, that kind of stuff," a Dutch border official told the driver in footage broadcast by TV network NPO 1.

In one scene, a border official asked the driver whether several of his tin-foil wrapped sandwiches had meat in them.

When the driver said they did, the border official said: "Okay, so we take them all."

Surprised, the driver then asked the officials if he could keep the bread, to which one replied: "No, everything will be confiscated - welcome to the Brexit, sir. I'm sorry."

 

Theres no wonder so many aren't complying. The volume of people about is way more than the first lockdown and on my infrequent evening walks, its ridiculous how many people seem to aim right for you or just don't move to assist keeping a distance.

Johnsons 7 mile "local" exercise is just another example. Just like his 120 mile trip to Bristol for a photo op with his entourage.

Kit Malthouse (policing minister) made a telling but slightly inaccurate remark on his media rounds today. Asked whether 7 miles could be considered local, he replied "It depends where you are." Obviously, the accurate answer was who, not where.
