The drivers are in a sealed cabin with no contact with customers or other people from the depot to the end of the shift. Easy way to fix it. Automate them. And the earlier trains were cancelled due to staff shortages. Boris blameless on this calamity
Blameless? He’s not blameless on anything to do with the virus. It’s his fault we’re in this position at all. Due to his pathetic policies, half arsed lockdowns and incompetent misters and advisors.
I know some have no choice but thats not good at all I wonder if thats just a particularly isolated incident caused by a problem somewhere or if its common. its hard to really know based on how selective some are are reporting
Does that mean since his advisors are pathetic eg SAGE you'll stop following the "science" The reporter in the same twitter thread has a statement from TFL saying 3 trains were cancelled at short notice due to staff absence. Given they are running at around 20% of usual capacity for passengers id say it is an isolated incident The overwhelming majority of people who got that service will have been unable to work from home, are required in the office to cover work in construction or are key workers in the hospital and retail. If TFL turned up there wouldnt be a crowd. Plus isnt Canning Town one of the few underground stations that goes under the river?
I can tell you first hand there are plenty of office workers still going into London offices who absolutely could and should be working from home.
Canning Town is DLR - the trains are driverless. Correction. Jubilee Line also runs through Canning Town. My bad.
Our office normally has 100+ in but since this lockdown started no more than 3 people plus myself have been in. We have a list of 25 people who are classed as critical as our company does the stuff for retail and banks so need to be on hand in case of problems that can't be solved remotely, which are few and far between hence only 3 in. We still need to send equipment etc out to engineers for training purposes and as I'm Facilities/postman/general dogsbody it's me who's it Plus at quieter times it gives me chance to post rubbish on here
Perhaps not letting shops open for click and collect could be a better choice or non essential construction or all the other businesses taking the piss.
It's an interchange with the DLR and Jubilee line and even though it can be busy at times 3 cancellations would have a big knock on of people stood on the platform. Acton sometimes has the same issues if trains are cancelled. I get an early Heathrow TFL train in, 6.11 and usually just 3 of us in the carriage. Busier going home, 17.02, but now have the ok from my boss to leave on the 16.02 to avoid the train with construction workers without masks on it
