The actual approach was to transfer Covid-19 positive patients back to care homes where it did run riot. I think actually testing people who come into contact with vulnerable people and developing a rapid response test so the results are available immediately might actually be better than what we've done thus far, that didn't work back in the spring and isn't working now.
The vaccine won't stop it, it will just act as a firewall to give our white blood cells enough time to fight it, its not going anywhere imo
I know that was the approach, it’s a disgrace that Matt Hancock is still in a job after that happened. My point is is that you’ve argued, fairly, that testing isn’t accurate and shouldn’t be relied upon. Therefore, your quick test theory doesn’t work because you’ll still get false positives entering care homes and spreading the virus. Btw, they do use these tests now, my Auntie is an OP and has a test kit at home.
The evidence that lockdowns do greater overall damage to be mounting up. This is just San Francisco, and whilst the shocking levels of homelessness and drugs (in the city that has the highest taxes bizarrely. Where does the money go?) is to blame, the over the top lockdowns in CA have cut off support networks for people so this could be avoided. https://www.sfchronicle.com/local-politics/article/It-didn-t-have-to-happen-2020-was-15872937.php I think in this particular city homeless deaths will be next on the rise once calculated. Many organisations that work on an appointment basis for donations of clothes for Winter were forced to cancel all those appointments and not accept donations this year.
I am struggling tonight with lockdown if I am honest, think life was better when I only got news off John Craven, think knowing all the worlds problems can make your head explode
Sorry guys but I just can't see how anyone thinks not minimising the risk of transmission at the moment when we've got over a thousand dying from it every day would be a good idea. It is massively **** and as someone who lives alone for 5 days of the week it has taken its toll on my own mental health, but I can't see any viable alternative right now that wouldn't further overrun the hospitals.
I think i interpreted that article differently to you . Didn’t seem to be a lockdown problem as such, but a resource one? Shocking statistics there though A quarter of the people who died were Black, despite the fact that Black people make up less than 6% of San Francisco’s population.
I took it from this line, hence me referencing the lack of support groups due to lockdown and being one of the strictest and longest in the modern world I think. ‘While experts attribute much of 2020’s surge in overdoses to the increasing presence of fentanyl, they also blame the pandemic for disrupting services like drop-in centers and in-person support groups’.
25% of people in hospital with coronavirus are below the age of 55. It doesn’t just affect the over 80s. How can you lockdown just the vulnerable when we don’t know who the vulnerable are?
Is that 25% of people in hospital due to covid or 25% of people in hospital who have tested positive? As we know it's far more prevalent in the working age population now it's logical that a higher percentage of those in hospital for any reason will also have covid.
I shall keep repeating this ad nauseum until it sinks in for some on here... testing does not stop Covid... 'Closing stable door' and all that! The only way to stop or slow a virus spreading besides vaccines is to deprive it of viable hosts i.e. isolate it. It either is killed by the host or kills the host... in the interim period it looks to spread to another viable host. If it cannot find one it dies. Simple - end of. Social distancing achieves that. Why are anti lockdowners incapable of grasping that simple logic? Jay. Why in the face of people telling you otherwise do you persist with your over simplistic (and incorrect) definition of immunity in the context of vaccine i.e. if it does not give 100% immunity it is not a vaccine?. I (and others with more specific detailed explanations) have highlighted that it is not 'black and white'. Also I do not fully understand why people are differentiating between disease and virus regarding the vaccine in this context . The virus is the cause causes the disease and the severity depends on an number of factors but mainly how rapidly the virus replicates within the host and the initial level of infection as well as the state of the host's immune system. The latter obviously is impacted by age and whether it is already weakened by existing medical issues hence the obvious impact that Covid is having on the older population. My understanding is - If the host's auto immune system is effectively fighting off the invading virus the host is still capable of passing the virus to a newr host without displaying any signs of having the disease (asymptomatic).
That isn't what sir Simon Stevens said though. He said that a quarter of covid positive patients were under 55. As it spreads throughout the working population there will undoubtedly be a higher level of covid positive patients within that age group in hospital for a variety of reasons.
The only way to clear it is a total and utter lockdown. It cant happen. Because you will always need food. People always need nurses and are admitted to hospital. The only true way is everyone stock up on snap for a month and nobody move. So at that point, anyone in hospital.... fuxk you. Anyone in a care home. Your on your own. No full on proper lockdown will ever happen.
