They weren't being petty. They were following the new rules as outlined in the Brexit "deal" as agreed with the UK government
I’ll wait for the outcome of the investigation before overreacting. Hopefully either a coincidence or an extremely isolated incident pertaining to storage etc. Potentially worrying signs though depending on the outcome of the evaluation.
Plenty of vaccinations being thrown away, my step daughters a co-ordinator for the vaccine, she told me this and that if my elderly parents rang their surgery they could get one before they got their letter. They called their doctors last week and got a queue jump and had their first vaccine. The government haven't a ******* clue whats going on.
Totally agree with Supertyke here. That whole article is absolutely garbage For a start the sandwich thing is not the Dutch customs being petty. It’s a direct consequence of Britain deciding to leave the single market. Britain decide it did not want to be part of Europe. We can’t then complain when we get treated like any other country outside you try and take a ham sandwich into the USA and see how far you get. there are problems of the EU’s making with some issues at import but they are dwarfed by the ones we have created by not putting in place the processes and people needed to ensure things work as well as they could not to mention the fact it will now always be much harder to export to the EU. That’s our choice not theirs. As several knowledge people pointed out Switzerland regularly has queues of many hours for freight at its border and they have had years to fix all easy to fix problems. All of you who voted leave or Tory actually voted for this it was inevitable as soon as we decided to leave the Single Market the fact you believe the vote leave lies changes nothing. And if you believe the Sun that it’s the EU to blame given its track record on lies words fail as for parachuting vaccines in that’s beyond parody. It’s going to take us all year to vaccinate everyone and that’s if the Tories dont f..ck it up. And given Hancock today couldn’t even promise everyone would get the second dose ....
This clearly needs to be investigated but seriously is anyone surprised that extremely ill frail elderly people are dying. two points - first it would be good to know how many would have died anyway and second it is definitely possible that already very ill people cant cope with the vaccine and its better not to vaccinate them - something that needs to be checked and it sounds like thats what the Norwegians are doing. It doesnt mean that for the vast majority the vaccine is unsafe
No, I'm not, but if anyone had used the language you have just used in relation to such people dying and having Covid-19 rather than dying and having the Covid-19 vaccine they would have been labelled murderers. Far, far less blunt language has been used on this forum regarding death being part of life and that has been exactly the result.
Far point I could have worded it better but it doesn't change the fact that very ill old and frail people are at the end of their life. Does covid bring forward the end of their life - it undoubtedly does thats beyond dispute Does the vaccination - thats a good question and one we need to know the answer an adapt the vaccine guidence if needed
Don't even get me started on those who dare to even slightly question government strategy or any of the vaccines... despite hundreds - if not thousands - of scientists and immunologists asking the same questions. We're dancing to one tune, and it is that of SAGE. It could (I hope it doesn't), come back and bite us in the backside. Clearly, I have to end this post with a disclaimer that I am NOT an anti-vaxxer, a COVID denier, eugenicist etc etc. Don't want sending off to reeducation.
The vaccine hasn't been rushed or anything but while we're injecting the public we need to find out if a. It kills people. B. If it causes problems with pregnancy. C. If it causes allergic reactions. D. How long it lasts. E. Whether it works giving doses further apart. Sounds a lot like it wasn't fully tested to me with so many key questions coming after unsuspecting members of the public were injected.
It's too easy to just call anyone who raises these questions COVID deniers, though and send them off to reeducation. https://www.sciencenews.org/article/coronavirus-covid-19-vaccine-delay-second-dose-dangerous-strains Clearly, there are very clever and qualified people questioning the vaccine strategy but they're being overlooked. SAGE has a monopoly on everything. It's bonkers.
Trouble is all the mainstream media are mouthpieces for governments who do everything with a political angle. Critical thinking skills are at a low ebb. The BBC don't just think they have the right as chief enforcers of the COVID party-line, they think they should be the ultimate authority on every aspect of your bloody life. What to think, what to do etc. Getting quite fed up of being treated like a child. "But I saved for years in my last job to open my own restaurant and bar and work for myself" "Don't care, YOU can't go to work" "But it's my livelihood, I've put in precautions that were considered acceptable in the summer when everyone was being encouraged to eat out, what's changed?" "LISTEN, we know best, YOU can't go to work, stay at home and stay inside" "But what about the ten other people I employ" "Them too, we know best" "But.." "No, be a good boy, or you have to give us £10,000". Best thing is, people love it. People love being told what to do. They can't get enough. Not a COVID denier or anything. It's clearly a horrible illness for many and precautions should be put in place. But it could have been handled SO much better. Also, let grown adults use their own judgement for Christ's sake. Nine times out of ten, small business owners will ensure guidelines are observed. Not everyone behaves recklessly, believe it or not.
It seems fairly well tested to me - over 3 million of mostly old and vulnerable vaccinated in the UK and no real signs of any problems it a pretty good result. Compare with the the fact that we know for sure that old and vulnerable if they get the disease are likely to become very ill and a significant number will die I dont see any realistic choice but to roll out the vaccine as fast as possible. Of course if we had taken the right actions a year ago - getting a propely working track and trace and quaraning people entering the country properly like for example South Korea, Taiwan, New Zealand, Australia etc we might be in a better position to wait and see how the large scale field trials in other countries worked out - instead of being the leading experimental field trial. We wouldnt be locked down either
But your post isn't saying it was fully tested, it's saying that having a vaccine with many serious questions is still less risk for the vulnerable than doing nothing is which I agree with by the way. That doesn't make it fully tested though. When it was rolled out the manufacturers/developers stated it did not cause any adverse allergic reactions. This was proven wrong in day one. That's evidence it wasn't fully tested. When it was rolled out they admitted they didn't know how it interacted with other medicines and advised against its use if you were in other medication. That's evidence it wasn't fully tested. They didn't know how it affected pregnant women and advised against its use. That's evidence it wasn't fully tested. The government is going with a big gap between doses, the developers say they've no idea what that does. That's evidence. Does it risk the life of elderly people? You said we don't know and need to find out. Again that's evidence. We don't seem to know if it stops you contracting the virus? The government is funding a vaccine passport yet also telling us that if we are vaccinated we can still catch and transmit it. The two are contradictory and are evidence it isn't fully tested. We all know if you're at imminent risk and extremely vulnerable then the choice between taking the vaccine or doing nothing is no brainer but for healthy people there are so many unanswered questions due to its lack of thorough long term testing brought about by the need to rush through any kind of vaccine to help.
No new vaccine is ever "fully tested" its just not possible to test for all possible eventualities Ive read by medical experts that the testing of the Covid vaccines is at least as rigourous as any other vaccine (with the possible exception of long term effects that only appear years later ) and I quite prepared to believe that I guess its hard to test it on Pregnant women as not too many would volunteer - but thats true for most treatments. Also Women of child bearing age in good health are a fairly low risk group - I see no problem with saying best to not vaccinate them Thats because our stupid goverment is ignoring the results from testing - its not that its not tested its just that the govenment is winging it as usual. Its wrong but thats what I expect from this lot of charlatains Of course it want trailed in old and already very ill patients . It was trialled on old healthy patients with no significant ill effects found but seriously you are never going to run trials on people already close to death before you begin a roll out - if at all. yes we do - we know it significantly reduces the chances of you catching covid - and even if you do the symptoms are much reduced
On that last one this is from gov.uk and was updated just 2 days ago "We do not yet know whether it will stop you from catching and passing on the virus. So, it is important to follow the guidance in your local area to protect those around you."
I don't believe we've released any information on this have we? The report I read about Norway said we hadn't.
Ah I understand your point now - so this is about retransmission not about sufferig from symptoms Thats not a reason for not rolling out the vaccine as it clearly will save many lives and hospitalisations it is potentially an argument for not vaccinating young fit people its also a huge argument for fixing track and trace I think most experts agree that its likely to reduce retransmission but thats harder to test and prove I guess we will find out in the coming months if it does though Its not the same as saying the vaccine isnt propely tested
