Maybe but look who he was replacing, Glavin.... He was never going to be better than Glav or equal, it would have been amazing if he was half as good. Fair enough he came in when that great team was falling apart and was bound to look poor compared to them. As you say as a replacement for Ronson (who I quite liked) with Banks and Glav in front of him he might well have been decent. I do remember him scoring against Derby I think it was in a 5-1 win just after we signed Futcher and Plummer.
Mike Sheron, Mitch Ward, Rob Kozluk, David Tuttle, Michael Boulding, Mark Stallard, Stuart Ripley, Neil Maddison, Deon Burton, Don Goodman.
Was absolutely convinced Jean Yves Mvoto would be class. Not sure why in hindsight. Interesting how most players we signed around that time never played at the same level again.
I had high hopes that he'd become the natural replacement for Ray McHale, which Billy Ronson certainly wasn't. However, for me, I didn't see any positive contributions from him. Scoring an odd goal here or there certainly didn't justify his selection in front of either Banks or Glavin. At least later on that year when Stuart Gray replaced Ian Banks, he brought goals and creativity to the team. McGuire brought nothing, as far as I'm concerned and I'm not one for being too critical of players.
Alex Neil was a big disappointment because he was brought in straight after Hignett left. That said best compliment I can give Alex Neil is that I don't have an opinion on him. He wasn't great but he wasn't ***** either.
Fola onibuje. Remember him against Chesterfield i think miss heading ball and then falling over his own feet. My dad was in hysterics
Back to Devante Cole, I remember having a couple of bids when one of his match worn shirts came up for auction by the club. I was no where near in the end, and was gutted because at the time, I was convinced he would play at a much higher level and even possibly turn out for England.
Devante cole scoring against rangers says alot about the standard of Scottish football even kane hemming filled his boots for a short spell in the spl.
