Are you sure it's evening and not afternoon I think all things considered you two did a good job and it's better than listening to the opposition commentary.
Nothing at all wrong with your commentary. Keep it up - it's nice to have a different voice, and different perspectives.
I thought you did alright to be honest. Put it this way I've heard far worse commentary this season on ifollow
As fans, I’ve no idea how they kept their cool when Mads did the foul throw at the end, some of the words that came from our household wouldn’t have been family friendly on the mic. Also, Kane taking a corner with not long to go and not even reaching the first man, straight back out of play. I’d be useless on commentary me. It’s way too frustrating watching us at times to be good at that game. Unless they did a explicit version, I might make the cut then.
I thought you did a good job, it's not easy to commentate. that corner from Kane near end was abysmal
Better than the Crosley show at the weekend. However, have a bit of pity for the tight gets amongst us with no pictures. I’d no idea who had the ball, where on the pitch ...
I think a lot of us would have struggled to keep it together on commentary last night without saying a bad word.
My heart nearly stopped waiting to find out what had happened when one of their shots ‘went over the crossbar’. Took ages (or it certainly felt like it) to know whether it was a goal or not and what had actually happened. Think Whitey was a bit confused himself.
Apologies to those with just audio but our instructions are to present TV-style commentary. And again, apologies for the chopping and changing of commentary this season, but due to the ongoing COVID-19 protocols, guidelines, restrictions etc, we are doing the best we can as a club to work with what we can. If we can't have Matt and his summarisers in situ, we will plug into BBC Radio Sheffield's feed. If there is no BBC team in situ (like at Norwich and last night in Watford) then we'll do it in-house. When this virus stops impacting everyone's lives, and hopefully football has its fans back and things return to normal, Matt Bailey will be on commentary at every game, home and away for those tuning into iFollow Barnsley. Thanks for the feedback and remember that on Saturday it's not a game covered by way of a live stream. It's been picked up by BT Sport, an FA Cup broadcast partner. We will have proper audio commentary though on our platform. You Reds etc.
I quite like Whitey and Chris, it's just like a couple of mates chatting about the match, bit of banter thrown in, I enjoyed it, it's different to the regular guys who do a serious job of commentating. Think Matt B still wants to fight me as I made a joke about switching to the away commentary last year.
Feedback was given without acknowledging your Sterling efforts. Appreciate you stepping up and keeping me up to date with my Reds fixation. I’d imagine that the instructions for your commentary haven’t changed from Matt’s ? Maybe have a word with him cos he does paint a bit of a picture for the audio customer, maybe he’s just more gobby? Anyway cheers for your effort, tbf if it’s a choice between the results and quality of commentary well you don’t need me to tell you.
Aah but it took a while to hear that bit of information whilst time seemed to stand still. It turns out it didn't go over the crossbar after all but I can definitely see how they thought that in real time at speed.
If we have to do another game, I will endeavour to improve my descriptive efforts. And whilst I already have leant on Matt for tips and advice for the two games covered at this point, it's a little like asking Picasso how to paint.
Don't mind us. You're very brave to even attempt it and the banter makes me laugh. More description of where the ball is at times would be appreciated if possible but it's not a dig at your efforts.
Neither myself or Chris want to commentate. But we know enough about football, about other teams and about our club to make it passable I think. And you're right, we are good mates as well as colleagues and I think that makes it friendly if nothing else.
I'm hoping we aren't needed again, but that's in the hands of others, as much of our lives have been for 12 months now. But if we do another one, I'll try and be more audio-only friendly. It's tough though, because the brief is to commentate in TV -style. So it's finding a balance, which I think Matt's managed ever so well this season.
