Like I've put in the handball thread. Ex ref Mark Halsey called the rule an 'ass'. By the letter of the law it was a goal ....... but then again you can be flagged off coz your fingernail is offside. Load of ballax on both accounts.
Definitely offside, in my opinion. That said, Mings should’ve dealt with it, headed it away, or played the ball to a teammate a bit quicker, to be on the safe side.
I think all rules for offside are ***** , to me offside is offside whether coming back from a offside position
Daft rule, depends if him chesting it was classed as a forward play or whatever the wording in the rule is.
This never ending problem we have in football is not going to end until var is thrown out and we let refs get back to refereeing the game.We have had 2yrs of this and its got worse and also as i said in an earlier post var has benefitted from covid because if there had been full stadiums god knows how the fans would have reacted to some of the decisions. Most players and pundits have finally had the balls to say how bad it is,so why are those at top so blind to this passion and atmosphere killer.P.S.Dont say its the rules because before var they were not a problem.
While this is the rule, we should change our press to have forwards stand ahead of the last man and try and nick it from them. Nonsense rule though. A player should have to get into an onside position while his team were in possession to be able to get back in play again.
So often issues around offside. Let's just scrap the whole offside rule in general. They did the same in field hockey and it worked out just fine.
At last somebody who agrees with me. I've been saying it for years. Think it would be brilliant for the game
Very similar to the second goal Swansea scored against us last week, striker In an offside position the defenders played the ball by this "loophole" made the striker onside
The whole concept and purpose of offside has been turned completely on its head. It was introduced to eliminate goal hanging, and now the pillocks in suits are actually encouraging it.
