He's been in many situations where any decent winger should be able to cause problems, but he's not had any end product. This system was a good opportunity for him to add some goals and assists to his game, and I'm not sure his agent will be thrilled to hear him say he can only play as an out and out winger. Quite a constraint to put on yourself given the number of clubs that play wing backs and/or a front three at the moment.
If I was a betting man, and Ismael is still here then I know where my money would be placed. I agree that playing in other positions would probably improve his development, and there are plenty of examples through the years of players playing in a number of positions and being improved by it, Dion Dublin for one.
So he’s frustrated he’s not got to play every week but not frustrated he’s never played in his preferred position. He’s started 34 games and made 27 sub appearances. How many more chances does he need to make an impression? Personally hope his stint goes well so we can minimise our loss on what we paid for him.
Val's out of line there for me. that should be kept inside the manager's office. unnecessary and unprofessional.
I'm not so sure, he's given him a move out of the club, and said he was unhappy and "not really professional". He was more scathing of Simoes, and if someone's got a poor attitude, I don't mind it being called out. There's been some very respected coaches say far worse about their players.
Anyone notice big Val had nothing to do with him when he came on as sub against,Swansea ,was assistant coach who had arm round Thomas trying to gee him up,god I can’t remember his name, the little bald fella, god I’m losing it,think big Val as garlic temperament
Thomas has played for Barnsley under 3 managers and had ample chances, 57 of them to be precise. Not impressed under any of them, time to go, I'm not shedding any tears, sometimes u cut your losses and say it how it is, I'm backing Val 101% on this one.
You mean Adam Murray, the guy who has been caretaker twice for us lol and I think Adam makes sure all/most of the subs are up to speed when they come on
Not sad to see him go it’s like a square peg in a round hole. We don’t play with wingers and he can’t play anywhere else so best for all involved that he’s gone. 60 games is more than enough time in a reds shirt lost count of the amount of times he passes when he should shoot and vice versa really frustrating 1 goal in all that game time is shocking. I can’t recall too many games where I left thinking Thomas had a really good game he’s been a passenger with us.
Wish Luke all the best. Val has been bang out of order with his treatment of him. Thomas is far from my favourite player, but we are all human at the end of the day.
Not a big fan of publicly slating players after a game or in a presser or whenever. Hecky used to do it all time after games and I didn't like that either. Poor from val who I've been impressed with so far. Hope luke does well and comes back better for it next season.
