50 partnership in quick time. How do these two make it look easy when numbers 1 and 2 make a right mess of it?
Jennings, Bairstow and Root should be the top three when in the sub-continent. Then revert back to Sibley, Burns and Crawley in England / Australia. Anderson is ridiculously good.
After his initial burst onto the scene it took him 5 or 6 years to become a mainstay of the England team. Since then he has got better and better every year, it’s incredible. He’s 38 now and is still determined to play in the Ashes this winter.
If you took his record from the point that Moores brought him back into the team with broad, his average will probably be similar to McGrath’s. If his body holds up to it, can see him playing at Adelaide, Melbourne and Maybe Sydney, with broad playing in Brisbane and Perth.
to be fair we’ve had better. But since that infernal T20 nonsense it’s not fun to block anymore. Ask a kid does he want to chip away scoring singles and running 3’s all day for a few quid or did he want to blast 60 off 25 balls scooping it over fine leg for a million quid in the IPL.... tough times!
Openers are just walking wickets. What happened to proper openers who set up camp at the wicket and wore the bowlers out?
The test match is in the balance although Sri Lanka have to be slight favourites with first innings runs on the board. The decision to rest Jonny Bairstow for the first 2 tests in the upcoming tour to India is crackers. Our opening 3 will consist of Burns, Sibley, Crawley. Absolute walking wickets against the best home team in the world .
Good to see that he has agreed to play for Lancs for one more year … mainly County games but Ttwenties availability
