Derek Riordan, ALF and Ebanks - Blake. Three pronged attack. Woodrow int happy. You heard it here first
We need a big bully of a front man.(Billy Whitehurst type) who knows this division Could also do with a Gwyn Thomas/Darren Sheridan work horse in the middle of the park and a left wing back. Need to get shut of Schmidt and Miller.
I really don't think we do. If we had one of those the aimless hoof ball we saw second half would be a permanent feature and the press we saw against Norwich would be impossible as a strategy.
Doesn’t have to be a big 6 foot 5 striker, but someone who’s good in the air that can be useful at set pieces in both boxes would be good. That said, I was surprised when I saw woodrow’s goal tonight, didn’t think he had that in him. If he can start regularly putting crosses away then he can be looking at 20 a season
I think athleticism is the most important factor if the way we played against Norwich is how we want to play going forward. Let's not forgot we were 2-0 up tonight and should have seen out the game. I'm not saying I have the answer I just think personally that this obsession with a big striker is wrong. I thought Moore was ok tonight, nothing more, but we've seen off Chris Martin, Lyndon Dykes and Hugill with ease this season and nothing I saw convinced me I'd want any of them in a Barnsley shirt.
What we need is a big mobile striker who is good at the press and can link up play just like the guy up front in blue tonight, erm wait a minute?????
I make no secret that big keef was my favourite. The player we always wanted and needed, and we finally had him. Then we sold him......... and bought Pat Schmidt.... thats right... sold big keef.... bought ickle Pat.
I think Woodrow does have it in him, and I'd wager he's not the only one. The quality of the cross for both goals last night was sublime, and something we've often lacked this season (Brittain aside).
Who is probably earning considerably more than any of our players are currently, and if we hadn't sold him at the start of last season, would've been coming to the end of his contract now.
Couple of options I'm going to name Lee Gregory from Stoke. Yes he may be 31 but he is 6ft 2 and knows this league and knows how to bully defenders. Not getting game time at Stoke. Chuks Aneke from Charlton. Aged 27 and 6ft 3. Decent scoring record for a big man.
I think the best team we've played in league this season was Norwich at Carrow Road and they played up front with Pukki on his own who is under 6ft. You don't need big arsed strikers to be successful in this league. It's nice to have that option but we've got some good attacking players and it is down to the manager/head coach to get the best out of them with a system that is appropiate.
Whilst I think any striker we bring in needs to be a decent physical size, I think movement and finishing ability is more important. I get the impression it'll go right down to the wire and we could possibly end up with a youngster on loan from a Prem side, that's if we get anyone at all in.
I don't think he was what we're after. He might put himself about a bit but so will Adeboyejo. We need a goalscorer(s) and they cost money.
