Why do you think people use that word towards people with long hair? It's not a coincidence and has nothing to do with the Romany community is it?

I'm only continuing this conversation because I prefer to believe you're daft rather than discriminatory but I'm starting to think that no-one can be this daft.

You are wrong and you've been corrected 5 or 6 times on this thread alone, so I'll take that with a pinch of salt!

Christ on a bike. What don’t YOU understand. Fill yer boots. With your superior intelligence. Yes Gypsies are from the Romany community. Were/are renowned for long hair. Hence the remark as I see it. What school of life do you teach. To attach it like you did to Memorial Day was reprehensible. Nuff said. Their was a reason you were the first to mention it. Do you want brownie points. Cos in my world YOU saw fit to introduce it. Wasn’t necessary in your words. YOU could have worded it differently. But YOU was aghast that no-one else mentioned it. Ask yourself why. What’s up did sanctimonious touch a nerve. I see an alternative. YOU do not.

    Quote
I can’t believe no one has commented on this slur, especially on Holocaust Memorial Day! No need for it.

In your words. no need for it. If your going to quote on Gypsies then stick to Gypsies. Instead of looking for the worst.

How come this has never been brought up in the run up to and in the aftermath of our games with Donny? Or is it only unacceptable 1 day a year?
Surely there's more reference to the gypsy community then but no one has objected to that.

I’m wrong. Can you read his mind better than I can. 1 things for sure 1 of us is wrong. I chose to look one way. You another. If I’m wrong I’ve nowt to lose. As I said I’ll stand corrected. If you are. Where do you go.

    Oh I forgot. You’re right.
    You have a nice day.

It’s never acceptable but in a day when I’d just been reading about all the horrors of persecution of certain groups of people I wanted to call out a slur on one of the groups of people I had just been reading about. Saying it’s done on another occasion doesn’t make it right, it just makes it more common an occurrence.

It’s really difficult to form a reply to you as it’s almost impossible to understand what you are saying with your disjointed sentences. I know you genuinely can’t help it but it makes responding to your points really hard as they are all broken up into fragments. I’ll just leave it by saying my final point which is that what he said was discriminatory and you defending it just shows that you are as bad as him. You can get angry at me opposing discrimination all you want but I will continue to do it wherever I find it.

No one needs to read his mind, that word is a slur on the Romany community. It 100% undeniably is. I don’t care whether someone chooses to only direct it at long haired footballers or only footballers who play for Doncaster Rovers or what. It’s a slur and no one should be using it in 2021.

Now I am done with this topic.

Might not have been a corner for their first, but it wasn’t his fault that Frieser couldn’t close their player down before the shot, or that nobody was goalside of the player that deflected the shot in.

Crack on. To say you can write fluently. . you obviously can’t read no matter what or how I write. And I will defend my point of view whether you like it or not. But hey, take the high moral ground. Your way or the highway. Not once have you understood the reasoning behind my thoughts. I’m as bad as him.o_O So be it. Just shows how ignorant you are. Look in the mirror. My conscience is clear.

Drinking wine isn't someone's heritage and I'm not aware of genocide being commited against wine drinkers.

The worst (well not the worst but it still gets me) is that he wasn't even talking about someone from the Romany community as far as I'm aware. Hooky seems to think that makes it better but really it just means that they are considered such fair game to insult that they are brought into it and insulted when it's not even them who have aggrieved him. Not content with insulting actual Romany people who he has a problem with, it can also be used as a generic way to insult them, even when they have nothing to do with the subject at hand, whenever someone shares a sterotypical trait that he considers negative.

No, all this from someone using a derogatory term against a community that wasn't even involved in the passage of play referred to.

As my point was that I can't read what you write, saying I can't read what you write isn't the put down you think it is. I honestly have tried to understand your reasoning, discussed it with my husband for another point of view and have spent over an hour researching the Romany community to try and get a better understanding. Have you at any point tried to understand the reasoning behind my thoughts or tried to look at it through the eyes of the Romany community?
