    As far as I can recall growing up in the sixties and seventies the Colliers was listed as the official nickname but very rarely used. It was the Reds. The Tykes hadn't ever been our nickname at that point as far as I'm aware.

    Must admit, I knew we had Colliers as a nickname, as well as Tykes, but I've just never connected with those. Always referred to us as Reds.

    I prefer Preddy's posse as I love alliteration, but St Peters boys would have been good when we had Struber as a manager I suppose

    My dad was a collier, my grandad was a collier and my great grandad was a collier. For me its a no-brainer. I'd also vote for it as our official nickname ongoing.

    Colliers is awful. We'll be having a forum background of Barnsley Main Pit head next. Just know that will be one of the first things the BBC focus in on when they set up cameras down at Oakwell.
