In hospital after testing positive for Covid.

Obviously I wish him all the best, but I lost quite a lot of respect when they went off to the Caribbean in the middle of a global pandemic. Surely with a 100 year old relative you keep them safe and don’t risk them getting the virus? Made a mockery of all that everyone has sacrificed in my opinion.

I didn't lose any respect for him. He seems a lovely man but dependent on other people in his family, that no doubt made a lot of the decisions on his behalf.

That’s a valid point. I lost respect for his family, not for him.

I feel for the man but, Barbados? Really? Can't get my head round that.

Edit. The family really need to take a long look at themselves.

He's 100. If I was 100 and faced with the choice between a trip to the Caribbean or staying locked down in the UK I'd take the Caribbean option, even if you told me that you'd shoot me the second I disembarked the return flight.

Not sure I'd fancy the plane journey at that age in all honesty.

But it makes a mockery of all that everyone has sacrificed in the last 12 months in my opinion. It’s just not what they should have done.

I feel the same way about these reports of the elderly that have just received their vaccines already planning their summer holidays abroad.

I have no problem with it to be honest. They haven't got long left, Covid or no Covid. If they want to enjoy themselves then go for it.

I can bet the ICU he is now in certainly does not see it that way.

No harm in planning holidays gives them something to look forward to but probably can't go anyway.

Hope he pulls through he's one of the heroes of the pandemic. Not a fan of his family though taking him abroad during a pandemic when he's high risk which the press let them off doing by not mentioning it, whilst keep going on about reality TV types in Dubai. I think a lot of what he does he is pushed in to doing for his daughter who I think likes the attention and probably sees pound signs. I reckon one day when he passes she will start a charity in his "memory" where she can put herself in a high paid director role.

So everyone should suffer so they can have a jolly? F**k that

Fortunately I think the vast majority of the elderly aren't that selfish

Will everyone be suffering in the summer? Any ill feeling just feels a bit spiteful. The old people didn't demand that us younger lot be locked up.

Yes I think they will. I can see millions suffering for years due to this.

Just read, he's not in ICU, oops. Still not a good idea to expose a 100year old & put the NHS under more strain.

They already have. She’s not listed as a director though so I don’t know if she’s taking any money out.

Captain Tom's daughter took him to the Caribbean.

    Jamaica?

    No, it was her decision.

    Thanks, I'm here all week.

Yes he spent Christmas out there.

I hadn't realised before that the timing of his holiday ties up with how long he's been receiving treatment for symptoms
