For me he was vastly overrated, by many Barnsley fans. But some of his ilk may never get a decent pay day. And some take it when and if the opportunity arises. For me. He’ll not be out of pocket. As for Pinnock. I disagree with Jay. Most of those he’s quoted have played and survived at the highest level. That can be achieved by Pinnock. But I’ll hold judgement till then. He’s a Great player in the making. I hope he does succeed.
They've brought in Whiteman but it isn't a shoe in he'll be great at Championship level. Massive gamble.
Doubt it. Hull relied on Grosicki and Bowen for goals, and sold both in January. They replaced them with Wilks and Maddison..
Yeah and whilst at Peterborough Maddison was tipped for greatness as he was a top footballer. He struggled in The Championship like Whiteman may do. I actually think Wilks is what we're missing right now and the club acted too quickly getting rid.
He’s an extremely lazy footballer, that Peterborough pretty much built their team around, to accommodate. It’s a bit different when you go a league above and your quality doesn’t show as much, and your lack of work is exposed. No surprise that he’s back in League One. Whiteman is a good footballer. He’ll do well in this league.
I just look at Preston and see comparison with us in 2017 cashing in on our out of contract players. I know we had enough points on the board. I think this season is different. Teams are having purple patches and no one is safe now that the bottom clubs are picking up points.
Looks really good in these clips, don't get the animosity towards him. I remember writing when he signed, how well thought of he was in Scotland, a nice young man. Still surprised he's never had a international call up.
We’d just come up though. Their squad is much more ready for this level than ours was at that time (after losing Hourihane, etc). They might well struggle a bit, but I don’t think they’ll do as badly as Hull did during the second half of last season. It’s difficult to stand in the way of a move to Liverpool, especially when he (Davies) has six months left on his contract and had all but already agreed to leave in the summer.
As far as I'm aware, the comparisons with Alan Hansen were simply due to both being central defenders from Partick Thistle. But my memory's not what it once was.
Preston are quite a conundrum. Sold a few,got a number of long term injuries,an aging squad and some questionable signings. Paul Gallagher 36 David Nugent 35 Paul Huntington 33 Scott Sinclair 31 Ched Evans (shudder) 32 Greg Cunningham 30 Patrick Bauer out for the season Ben Pearson sold Darnell Fisher sold Ben Davies about to leave Josh Harrop loaned out Josh Earl loaned out Club captain Alan Browne(central midfielder) having to play at right back.
