Which is the better country to play for?

    If you're born and raised in America but have Nigerian parents which would be the country you'd prefer to play for?

    Just wondering because our good friend Mr deekay is a USA international but the rest of his family seem to be Nigerian internationals.

    I'd say probably the country you were born and raised in unless you were too **** to get into that team .

    Whatever the player feels in their heart.

    Personally, I'd sooner represent Nigeria than the US, because accomplishing something with the former would mean something to people. In America, not so much.

    Probably depends on his parents point of view as well as his own. If they couldn't wait to get out of Nigeria and he's been brought up as an all-American kid then USA. If they've enormous pride in the old country and he's been born into that culture then Nigeria. If he just wants an international cap then hes more chance with USA. Rod Stewart was born and raised in London but identifies as Scottish because of his parents. Mick McCarthy is a Brigger and is as English as you could get but played for Eire because he didn't have a prayer of getting an England cap.

    Not so sure about that. The only time the US actually did something in a World Cup under Klinsmann the fan parks were absolutely packed and there was a real buzz. It means something to the ones that follow it, they’ve just never had the success to really break in to the main stream. But any kind of success would put you on a serious pedestal.

    Freddy Adu probably set them back a decade as well. So much hype, they were all invested in him, and then just nothing. Literally.

    I’d choose USA. It would avoid the travel and jet lag of schlepping over the Nigeria every international break.

    Also, lower risk of being kidnapped.

    He could always sign a 10 year contract with us become British and play for England on the other hand Nigeria is a far better option

    I expect the US FA have more money, if you've got a chance to get into the team you're going to pick the one who's going to pay you the most and put you up in the best hotels, etc,etc....bit of a no brainer.
