    No. 9 was allus traditionally thought of as the main goal scorer.
    You must be a nipper Tosh, to think differently. . in my early days our top scorer was the No.9 .
    It Probably changed tactically around the 80’s The king himself and a few others have scored more from midfield. To change that theory. The number 9 then became the target man. But is also looked upon to get the goals so to speak by us older ones.

    Proper No.10’s were inside lefts. I’ve never known em be called called centre forwards.
    Steve Agnew bucked the trend first. At tarn. Mainly midfield but scored goals.

    I'm not old enough to remember inside lefts. Growing up, number 9 and 10 were the main strikers.

    See my previous post. Re Agnew attacking midfielder. Probably changed after Redders. Then Bruce came along.
    Got to admit I saw David Currie as a striker in that shirt. Although he would pick up play in midfield.

    That goal v Grimsby. I think at the time it was the furthest I’d seen.
