I know we're all in lockdown but I'm amazed at the amount of people who don't seem to have looked out of the window for the last month
They did It was more to protect against frozen or snow covered pitches but it would have worked against rain I am sure. But in those days our pitch would have been seemed playable
I once looked out of my back window and it was p1ssing it down. I looked out of the front window and it wasn't raining at all. So yes I think a town 15 miles away could get different weather
This is the main point isn’t it? The pitch wasn’t prepared in the usual way and that’s why it’s suffered. Can’t believe “sack the groundsman” was thrown out on here within seconds. Lovely stuff guys, stay classy.
They (L1 and L2 clubs) didn’t play football matches between March 2020 and August 2020. We went from one season into another so quickly that renovation was very difficult. Our pitch has been battered by the weather this season too. There was a game moved for Sky a few weeks ago and it absolutely pîssed it down. We’ve had cup games at home in between an already - uniquely - hectic schedule. More snow than usual, with more to come by all accounts. The pitch is in a terrible state. I’ve no idea what the weather is like elsewhere, but at Oakwell it has been drenched by constant rain all night and all morning. The referee inspected it (I was there as he did so) and he deemed it unsafe to play on. It’s only the second home game in my five years at the club that we’ve had postponed due to weather. The other being Norwich a few years ago. Out of well over a hundred games in that time. We also had an away game at Forest cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch in 2018 too. So it’s a real shame but these things happen. There’s little worse in this industry than preparing for a game all week, then being three hours from kick off and seeing it cancelled. A lot of work gone to waste. A lot of effort, a lot of time, a lot of money. This game was picked up by ESPN overseas for example, so any TV money from that will now disappear. Let us hope for a better week of weather ahead of us. Stay safe everyone.
My cat must know something, because if he doesn’t fancy the Weather at the front door he then wanders over to the back door and meows to be let out there instead.
Appalling by the club. Donny is still on. Everyone expects snow and rain at this time of year. We are getting hammered for it on twitter but yet again bit rich coming from other clubs
I just wonder what some folk have for brains, after years (in most cases) of supporting BFC don't they realise its not like flicking a switch on and off, there's loads of preparation and planning go's into ANY event, i dispare sometimes.
