Having avoided the internet because I was watching the cricket on a delay, I went to iFollow at 14:55 so probably suffered more disappointment than most that the game was off. Just been reading threads about options for rearrangement, and all the debate is about whether and how Oakwell could be playable. In the current situation with no crowds, why can't we just put out a call to the 50 odd clubs within a 100 mile radius of our respective grounds and play somewhere else? Extending that, having called it off well before 3, it should have been feasible to play the fixture somewhere else today. Surely playing the game somewhere else this weekend is better than having to fit another game into an already congested calendar, for both teams? Especially bearing in mind we've another 3 games to rearrange for FA cup fixtures.
Because preparation in elite football is about turning up at a ground somewhere and kicking a football.
I assume I'm meant to read sarcasm into that reply? If so, they've spent all week preparing for the game. What does it matter where it's played?
It's a interesting point and I see where you are coming from. I would imagine however the logistics aren't so simple. League approval and both clubs agreeing on a venue. The use of another clubs stadium to be agreed. I would assume also sponsorship issues in terms of advertising boards and such around the stadium. I'm sure it would be possible to arrange but not simply go play it somewhere else on the same day.
I guess that's kinda the point of my post. In 'normal world' it wouldn't be contemplated, but you'd think in these exceptional times the powers that be would be ready and able to think a little differently to work around such issues. I understand there are plenty of reasons folk would say it's not practical, but if the will were there most of them would be easily overcome.
We do not have 3 games to rearrange for the FA cup , the 3rd & 4th round were part of the fixture list & not additional matches as we were not scheduled to play a championship fixture & the 5th round has been introduced in the mid week to prevent any league cancellations , therefore no matches have to be rearranged . I do note that the Brentford fixture was put back 24 hrs but playing on the same weekend does not affect our fixtures for the remainder of the season.
Any house with bedroom windows overlooking the ground. For rent for the evening please. Will bring my own mask and anti bacterial hand wash. Any obstructions with the view will obviously reduce what I’m prepared to pay. Full view will pay max. £1 6s 3d. I will Chuck in another Tanner if bovril included.
If you're rearranging Derby you cannot make any other five letter word but a few four.... https://www.wordgamehelper.com/create-words-from/derby
