Vote Tory. A vote for Austerity A vote for Workers rights to be watered down. A vote for the haves, I’m alright jack, screw everyone else brigade A vote to line the pockets of their friends. A vote to support the BIGGEST, MOST INCOMPETENT, GOVERNMENT IN HISTORY. A vote For the BIGGEST POLITICAL LIARS, IN HISTORY. Crack on, Vote Tory. Ffs. Just my opinion.
Nope - facts. It's a fact that Boris Johnson has been sacked from several jobs for lying. It's a fact that Boris Johnson stated that there would be no paperwork required for trade between NI and the mainland It's a fact that Johnson further stated that it was a Labour lie that paperwork / checks would be needed. It's a fact that the paperwork / checks are required ergo Johnson was lying. My opinion is that he's a complete see you next tuesday, but that's not what I posted earlier - what I posted was just the facts (as above)
Interesting read that - although it too is 'shoddy'. The mental gymnastics defending the 50,000 new nurses and the 'new' hospitals is rather worrying for someone purporting to write a fact check article. Thanks for the link though. Edit: time for me to bow out of this thread - I promised myself that I wouldn't get involved with politics after I lost it over Christmas, especially something that's affected me so much as this Tory Government has in the last 14 months.
I don't read it that the author is defending that...merely saying that FullFact did not describe it as misleading.
Winner, winner, lobster dinner... https://www.theguardian.com/politic...xit-costs-forced-close?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other But the Guardian....
Thats our fault though surely - if we all started eating the lobster instead they wouldn't be closing
I'm sensing a pattern..... https://www.fnlondon.com/articles/i...ves-out-of-london-as-pressure-mounts-20210209
City jobs have been relocating to mainland Europe since article 50 was invoked. One city firm has shelled 2,000 jobs through voluntary redundancies and "natural" wastage over a 4 year period and shared them around European cities and incredibly the media haven't clocked it. You'll see the same in audit firms with qualification equivalence lost. And with some companies changing HQ to the mainland, you'll likely see the main audit office moving and a shift of jobs from UK to Eu based countries. And I know quite a few law firms have relocated their European Law arms to the Hague. Not huge numbers, just 20-50 each of them. But when you're taking their income as around £500k as a Partner to £30k for the cheapest fee earners... thats a big chunk of NI, income tax and corporation tax going into other treasuries. Not to mention the flow of money being in the continent and not the UK so small business and providers lose that income. I also heard yesterday that one of my clients is closing in the UK. 47 redundancies. The jobs will be lost here, but they are expanding their operations in France and US.
I should say that if any leave-voters want to join in the thread and post some positive, good-news stories about the benefits of Brexit, then don't be shy. We're a broad church.
Tories today. The visa and carnet free touring needs of working musicians doesn’t ‘fit into the manifesto commitment to take back control of our borders’ - because, shock horror, it would mean offering the same to European musicians touring here. So they’ve set up a website explaining all the red tape that we are going to need to deal with at vast expense, rendering touring unviable and, once again, wrecking the future of the younger generation to pander to the bigotry and ignorance of (the majority of) mine. ******** to the Tories, ******** to Brexit, ******** to the duped gerontocracy who voted for them and for it. Exports down 68% already - musicians are just a tiny bit of the collateral damage which will come to light if Covid is ever under control and lockdown ends. Fishermen lied to and screwed, musicians lied to and screwed, farmers lied to and screwed, manufacturers lied to and screwed, just so a load of retired Daily Mail readers can have blue passports. ******** to them all. Who’s going to pay for their pensions now they’ve voted our livelihoods away?
