as soon as I saw the title of this thread I thought - look out for SD'd response. Not disappointed !!
we get loads of blue tits, great tits, coal tits and sometimes long tailed tits on our bird feeder, along with gold and green finches , nut hatches fortunately or not Ive never seen a sparrow hawk around here. Only big birds of that type we see are Red Kites but when they show up they usually get chased off by the crows and magpies
I had one in the garden a few years back chased a pigeon which flew into a window on the house and fell behind the bins stunned. Sparrowhawk was sat on the wall watching and waiting. Not phased at all by me following down the garden but it ended Sparrowhawk 0 Dazed Pigeon 1 Amazing to see in flight.
Sparrowhawk is back this morning. Just watching him chasing birds down the end of the garden. If he comes a bit closer I'll try and grab another photo...
There were a lot of berries on the bushes this year - maybe for nature to prepare for this cold snap. Perhaps they have their own stores somewhere.
Not for the squeamish as it's a Sparrow Hawk doing what it does best, wife hates the one's that come in our garden.
