No never! Don't shatter the illusion that he played brilliant football every day and scored every time he kicked the ball! :D:D:D

    Stuart Gray & David Hirst.

Both rarely get into people’s best ever. Gray dependable quality in several positions, David Hirst, wow! I saw every game he played - he was almost unplayable. If memory serves me right he was chomping at the bit for a few games and then scored against Leeds in a 3-0 home win. Walsh and Owen got the others??

    Shame he went to wendies

Was David Hirst a Barnsley fan?

For me : Derek Bell, David Geddes, Wayne Biggins & David Currie.
Special mentions to Clint Marcelle and Adam Hammill (can’t dislodge Sir Ronnie, Redders, Hignett and Banks).

Alan Little and Paddy McCourt, very different ends of the spectrum but two players who I loved watching.

Adam Hammill, Conor Hourihane and Bruce Dyer were favourites of mine but don’t get in my best 11.

Not really close to doing so either.

Gwyn Thomas - absolute machine! Never gave less than 100%
Gordon Owen - knew where back of the net was for a midfield player
David Currie - what a debut!!!
Mark Robinson - grew into his role and improved
    Gary Fleming - mr reliable
Stephen Foster - hardly put a foot wrong

He'd be in my BFC all time XI in front of everyone I saw play there including Stones. Just for Nicky did in a Reds shirt.

Ones from my time I don't think have been mentioned but i always liked.

    Steve Lowndes
    Steve Agnew
    Owen Archdeacon
    Daniel Nardiello
    Michael Chopra
    Mark Robinson
    John Beresford

Never get a mention in an all time Reds team but reckon they'd all hold their own .......

Hirsty was a Barnsley fan through and through as were all his family. At the time he disliked Wednesday and didn't really want to move there but he was told in no uncertain terms by the chairman that he was going. After breaking into their team and becoming folklore for Wednesday he changed his allegiance. Hardly surprising since he spent most of his footballing life there

Brendan O'Connell, Steve Cooper and Neil Thompson were favourites of mine. All very different types of player, and we were a better team when they were in it.
